As some of you may know, I have been looking for a truck to begin hauling my Civic to and from the track with. I have been debating New vs Used and 4X4 vs. 2wd and all sorts of scenarios. I have narrowed the field to a 99 or newer Ford F350
Quad cab Duallie. Still debating weather or not I should go 2wd and lower or 4X4 and lift. Towing puposes say lower. Anyhoo, i found a company in Texas that makes air ride suspension that lowers the cab an the frame. It is only for shows and exebithions now butis is damn cool. I thought I would show you guys what it looks like. The next picture is what I want my truck to look like.

Here is a F-350 on bags just the way I would do it. note the last one is with 30 series tires. For show only.

I looked into them and you cant make the horsepower you can with the powerstroke. Not to mention they are $40k for a new one as opposed to a used stroke at $26k. Chris (a guy I work with) is an ex Ford mechanic and says If I have the cash I can build that stroke to make over 1000 ft.lbs of torque. Not to mention they pull 17k lbs stock over the Chevy's 13k.

cars are made to be slammed, lift the truck & put on 36" mudslingers!

I dont agree with that at all. As long as the truck is a 2wd only...lower the fucking thing! Both of my lowriders handled like cars. Besides...almost everyone you see put a "lift kit" on their big 4x4 truck only does a body lift....whats the point if your parts are still down there on the ground?

Those trucks are a little extreme...but a nice healty sport rake on a full size truck is DAMN sexy. :)

that f-350 looks sweet man!! I say go for the 350 man. The one we have that I use to pull our babcat at work has plenty of power. With teh Bobcat and all the attatchments on the trailer it will pull 80-85 on the highway no problem. Not to mention it has no problem in traffic Plus I have heard of some pretty mean f350's out there with mods.

My friends has 6inch turbo back straight pipe, A chip, turbo wheels, EGT, and wastegate courtesy of Banks. It runs a solid 16.2 at Bandi. Next is the propane injection which should put it into the 15s. He and I are working on a twin chip system so you can switch between street power settings and tow settings without having to reburn a new chip.

Tobi, you would be a little bitch and buy a Ford:D You like to have free time don't you? Ask John who works on Diesels for a living what he thinks about them. You know what I'm partial too A duramax with a Allison 5 speed. Second choice would be a 98+ 24 valve cummins. Stay away from a power joke.

Don't get a 4x4 for towing, just takes away from the GVWR.

I can't allow a ford to be parked at my childhood home. :D

If I could find a Dodge that isnt totally fucked up Id go that route.
But they are kinda hard to find in 2wd. Dusty, dont worry, I wont let a Ford ruin all your childhood memories. Ill make is sleep outside with the dog. My two main concerns with the chevy is price for one and the amount of modifications I do to it for more power. Is Banks working on any duramax stuff that you know of?

shit i cant beleive i am saying this but i have heard that the ford is the hardest to get the power out of. dont get me wrong Tobi i love the powerstroke and you would not be disapointed. Clint from ATS had his duramax at test and tune and is running 13's!!! these guys are the experts on the deisels. he had the powerstroke before and had good things to say about it except that they are harder to get the power out of. you should talk with them on Fri. as they sponsor the club clash events. not trying to sway your decision in any way, hell i would never EVER own a chevy and would like to see all of dodges products taken off the road. so if it was me it would be the powerstroke but since you are sooo power hungry you would do well to talk with these guys first.

hey Tobi i wish you could see a pic of my father in law's new ford F-550 the thing is 22 feet long and weighs 10,000 pounds. it has a full custom rear end made from 10 ga steel. custom fitted with dual fuel tanks and airbags to level the ride height. he is pulling a 18,000 lb 5th wheel with it. he plans to upgrade with the banks kit. i think it pumps the stock tq up to 700 ft lbs. also gettin a jake brake installed. fitted with a 6 speed i think and also planning an additional 2 speed trans in between the stock trans and rear axle. this will give him 12 speeds. i dont know what he paid for the whole set up but got it brand new really cool i wish i had a pic to post

I'm not going to be rude and say that this is dumb idea, but I will say that those trucks look like they are sleeping. Wouldn't be cool if you could some how do both a drop and a lift at the same time!!??? I would roll around real close to the ground, and then if someone ever gave me a bad look, or talked some shit, I'd push a little red button and the truck would lift up past normal ride height to like a 12 inch lift. If I ever saw a truck do that I would shit!!!

Has anyone ever seen that eight wheeled, eight wheel steering monster truck limo? I saw it on Extreme Machines (trucks) on TLC. The thing is freaking huge and since it has eight wheel steering, the guy said you could drive it at an angle and block all four lanes of the highway at once.

Horse power isnt the problem, it still utilizes a modified version of the Odyssey front drive transmission and we all know that is just an Accord trans. Try pulling a 20 foot race trailer with a car and tools in it with an Accord. The chassis on the Pilot is not meant to tow anything bigger than a tent trailer or small boat.

REALLY!? I would have thought Honda would have done it right this time, but I guess they have a hard time making something new. So what platform does the MDX ride on, the same one? I think it's about time that Honda comes out with a REAL heavy duty chassis for some serious 4x4, but I guess that's just not their forte, and may never be.

If you want a pickup to pull i would go with a ford powerstroke 4x4 single rear wheele. If all you are going to pull is a civic it is light enough with the trailer it will only push 6 to 8 thousand pounds and a single rear wheele will handle that no prob no sense getting a dully for that little weight since it make no sense having the two exta wheeles. Having four wheele drive does not lower the GVWR. Hell i take my 350 crew cab short box 7.3 and put over 20,000 pounds behind it and flew down the road at seventy. The only mods im running is a 60 horse diablo chip, k&n filter and straight pipe. no probs in the hills or anything. I even have an 02 duramax and it will not keep up with my powerstroke and not 5.9 h.o. could keep up. If you are going to do any pulling do not lower the pickup since load on it will cause the pickup to squat, also stay away from low profile tires and dubs since they do not hold the weight of any load. stay with a 16 or 17 inche rim and a tire with a load range of d or e.

I took this dolly out of the shop. If I go REAL fast and hit it, my car high-centers on it and I just hook the handle onto good ol tank and off I go. Hitting 70+ MPH while trailering your car on a dolly with one plastic wheel and the other with 3psi in the tire, PRICELESS.

Not mine. Mine is a dovetail with pull out ramps and I've had it for a few years and never problem with it. Lots of em down here for $800 bucks.

Used or new? I couldnt find one singel dovetail for less than $2k. Anywhere, not on the net not calling out of the phonebook. Anyway I like mine, I can pull the S2k with less than 3 inches of ground clearance on it no problem.

I got mine from a place named "The Trailer Guy" in Houston for $899 brand new. Yeah yours is pretty nice and almost identical to mine.

you can buy my 20' b-line trailer, but you also have to buy all the lawn service equipment on it.
