Ok, so my friends car speedometer is acting up, just like i've noticed that many on hondas do. When this happened to my car, all that was wrong was the harness that went into the speed sensor. We replaced that yesterday and also the speed sensor and nothing. What else have any of you that this has happened to found out to be? I dont think it's his cluster cause he has never messed with it... any ideas?

Does it have a check engine light for a speed sensor failure as well?

Check the code. If its code 17 then its your speed sensor. I had this problme on my car. Just take it out and replace it.

thing is it already has a new speed sensor.

If it is coding up for a speed sensor then the signal is not getting from the sensor to the ECU. The problem lies between the sensor and ECU in the wiring. IF it NOT coding up for a speed sensor you can check the wire at the gauge cluster with a volt meter while driving. If it has a small but increasing voltage with speed the gauge itself is more than likely going bad.

maybe i'll try a new cluster. anyone have a spare for cheap or that i can test?
