well I'm coming out of lurking since this forum talks about something I already know about. If you guys are looking for a cool first person shooter check out Battlefield 1942. You can get the multiplayer demo at www.ea.com
Great game...first person shooter with lots of land, air, and sea vehicles in a WWII setting. Huge environments with big battles.
I grabbed both the single and multiplayer demos, as well as the mp server. I couldn't get the demos working on my athlon 850 box with a geforece 2 card.
Any tricks you can share?

yeah some people have had problems running the demo. One of the most common things to try is lowering your refresh rate to 60 hz. Yes I know its ugly and tough to bare but try it and see if the game runs.
Supposedly a patch is coming that will fix the problem for many users.

Come on over here so I can kick you in the head, ok? :) :)
Actually the attempt to run it was XP. I'll try the refresh rate thing. But 60hz is like watching a stobe light...

hrmm..what kind of issues are you having with the game? 60Hz is damn ugly...bad for the eyes too...a lot of games run at a shitty refresh in winXP and you need to get that driver hack for the nvidia cards...nvtweak or something. Anyway...I'll definately grab that game at the lan this weekend...untill then I'm sticking with Neverwinter Nights.

Yeah hopefully that patch will fix the issues. The full game supposedly has them all fixed. Should be out Sept 10th.
Use a joystick when you fly the planes and hit f9 to make the cockpit disappear...its much easier that way. Oh yeah and bind a few keys to roll left and roll right. Dogfighting rules :)
