I sure wouldn't call Laguna Seca part of Northern California. More like central Cali. It's about a 4 hour drive from San Fran to Laguna Seca. I did it twice last year when I went for the MOTO GP race. Situations lead us to driving from a little north of San Fran, back to Laguna from around 11pm and we got there before 3AM. It was a beautiful ride in an r32 VW. Massive changes in climate and terain along that ride. In that one day, we took a ride from Santa Cruz, to laguna, back to SC, to Rhonert PArk, and then back to Laguna...cocaines a hell of a drug... If you get a chance, check out gravity hill in Petaluma, i beleive the town is called. It's a neat little foothill road that when you park your car in the road, it rolls uphill. But I was high on that California sticky icky, so maybe it was just me...
