me shooting propane bottle - vid

Shooting it with my .30-06 at 250+ yards, in the dark. It was just one of those little Coleman Propane bottles from WalMart, I was expecting a bigger explosion but it was "ok" I guess. I've got plans for a much bigger bottle with some flares attached, it outta be pretty good.

I've seen videos of them exploding... I think you may have only ignited the gas coming out of the bullet hole, causing a controlled burn, rather than igniting it from the inside of the bottle to make it explode. Unless you're shooting it with tracer or an incendiary round, I think it's kind of random on what actually happens. I remember when Ashton shot one of those... no fire whatsoever, but the thing depressurizing caused it to fly around the air for a while.

Even with your AK and some tracers, your not going to get an incredible explosion. Big explosions (involving gases, leave your C4, TNT, nuclear warhead comments out of this) come from the gas being at a stoimetrich(sp?) mixture with oxygen. Without being able to introduce oxygen into the propane tank, your results are always going to be sub-par. Take a ballon, fill it with asetylene and light it on fire. Then, take another ballon and fill it with oxygen and asetylene and light it on fire. Tell me which one has a bigger BOOOOOOM.

I've done the Oxy/Ace thing with a foam cup on a table, works great.

Oxyacetylene torches are fun - we used them as kids to build pipe fence for corrals. They got even more fun when we discovered that you could set prairie dog colonies ablaze with the gas if you contained it. :D
