Going again to IMI....cost is only 35 bucks, helmet required but obviously would be smart to wear any and all gear you have. Mirrors "should" be removed or at least folded in or taped up. I will have painters tape if needed.
For any of you that might be intimidated, suck in your pride/ego and get out there. Take advantage by asking questions, asking other more advanced riders to show you the lines and such.
Heres a video from the last two weeks:

If your referring to the Hayabusa, yeah, they do come out there. I would bring mine if it were stock....wheelbase and such.
Even if you had a cruiser, hell, bring it.

Can you go a little further in detail?
Are the riders staggered? I noticed a wave to signal a pass... correct?

No, I think the pics your referring to were riders coming off the track. As far as slow vs faster riders, the slower ones will just maintain their usual line. The faster guys will gauge when and where to pass safely on their own. However, you will see some guys to to wave on by the faster riders. This really does more damage than anything. This can be further explained at the track or on another thread.
This is a loosely based (rules) small track. Short 1 mile course with tight turns. We all go out there not to race.....but to have fun with our bikes and to learn something. Each person whether they are faster or slower than you most of the time can teach you something.
Just show up if your interested, it's worth much more than the 35 bucks they charge and everyone comes away with some more skills/confidence.

ABATE and Iron Buffalo
I went through Abate myself to take the course...
I could be wrong in saying this, seeing as how i dont ride, (i race go karts out at IMI occasionally.) but i have noticed and heard that most of what you gain is technique on this small of a track. a few of the guys i have spoken to have said that you really learn to handle your bike. with such a tight couse, you really get a lot of good practice with transitions and bike control at lower speeds. just my $.02

Zach, everything you have said is completely correct. IMI is a very small track with different types of turns. For a full day here, with the right people willing to take time helping and advising you of things to do......you will learn more than riding the twisties (canyons) or any street/highway riding for a year in just one day. Most people that don't go are for various reasons, but the biggest reason I have seen (all over the country) is due to fear. Fear of looking stupid after talking a big game about having such die hard crazy mad tight pimp riding skills.
Just show up if your interested and be prepared to have fun and learn a ton.
