View Full Version : Shitty deal on eBay.
So, I bought a wiper motor for my car off of eBay. It came in, and the box it was in was beat to hell, and the thing was barely wrapped in tiny shitty bubble wrap. I open it up, and one of the three mounting tabs was broken off. Ugh. I contact the seller, ask for a refund and for them to cover shipping the item back. Their response was:
"you dont need to ship it back wheni sent it to you nothing was wrong with it.once the post office gets it i have nothing to do with it"
My response was:
"Had you actually packed the thing worth a damn, it probably wouldn't have gotten broke. Enjoy your negative feedback and complaint that I will be submitting to eBay."
Is there anything I can actually do about this situation, or am I just shit out of luck?

No insurance? How'd you pay for it?
The dickwad didn't offer insurance on it, and Paypal.

Try to contact e-bay about it directly. Did you take pictures of the crappy packing? If not take pictures of it now if you can and send them to e-bay. I thought somewhere they have a dept. That takes care f that stuff
Cool, yeah I can still get pics of the packaging. Thanks for your input.

Word, thanks man. Let me know when our flight to Hawaii is booked. :D
Just got this response from the seller:
"if thats the way you would like to handle it a negative feed back will be bad for you.would you like me to send you another one for free"
I replied with:
"That is what I would like to see happen, yes. This time, please package it better."
We'll see what he does/says.

Damn. this is why im scared to order off of ebay. i want to see what im buying before i hand over cash
This is really the first time I've had a bad experience. The only other time, I ordered Crest Whitestrips (don't ask lol), and they were expired. The seller refunded my money, and let me keep the expired strips. Seems when you threaten negative feedback against a seller, they straighten up and do whatever it takes to make you happy. At least that's appearing to be the case for me.

oh thats cool. i bought one thing and it was some warning vtec sticker im sure youve seen them. they go over the air bag warning thing. but thats it. not sure on parts. dont really want to risk it. had too many friends get screwed over
Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I've bought a few actual parts off of eBay, though. You really have to do your research on a seller before buying from them, in my opinion. I always dig through a seller's feedback before purchasing from them. I check out all of their negative feedbacks, see what they're for, if it was resolved, etc.
There's still always a chance of getting fucked, though.

I hope it all works out for you M@. Fwiw, I use Ebay ALL the time for misc. crap, and lots of car parts. I always get amazing deals, and never had a problem(knock on wood). Like M@ said, thats what feedback is for...I read through atleat 1-3 pages of their feedback and if it's not 100% positive I don't order from them.

fuck the guy on eBay. go straight to paypal. as long as his auction says that the item is new or in good condition with pics, paypal won't hesitate to give your money back. as long as he has money in his paypal account.
even if he has no cash in his paypal account, it'll debit from his cc. I would try to work it out with the seller first. There is a very good chance Paypal won't do crap for you because as long as you received something they really don't care. I've have it happen before.
Also never ship anything to a unconfirmed address without a signature confirmation. You'll just lose out on whatever you're shipping.
He's saying he'll send me a new one, so.. we'll see.
The guy is sending me a new one. It's in the mail... cool beans. Let's hope this one gets here in one piece.
