How big of a head-ache is swapping the 2.5 V6 for the 4L in a Cherokee?
1985 or so Cherokee.
kthxbye

for one i dont understand the purpose of that...
second hard because the cherokee is a unibody and has no frame rails to make custom motor mounts.
And the 4 makes the power of most v6s and is easier to find.

I meant taking the V6 out of a Cherokee and replacing that with the 4.0.

WTF?? I never knew a fucking cherokee had a V6 (looked it up only did it in 84-86)
But that was an option for those years... the other option was the inline 6s.. so shouldnt be too hard. I would be weary of the wiring and what not. One that old it would probably be cheaper to buy a new one. You can find late 90s models for under 2K a lot 3K built.

Thanx for the link Ryanman.
Conrad, I have found a few for sale. For DIRT cheap too, but they have that V6 in them and I've heard that those motors are dogs. I also don't know what year they began the locking diffs in the cherokee.
I'd go with a newer one (Sport) with the lockers and all... but I'd like to put some money back in the bank afterwards. Sort of a low budget DD that I can take to the trail... since somebody decided to get me hooked on that shit.

I'm no expert, but I don't think any year cherokee came with lockers from the factory. I don't think it was even an option... I could be wrong though.
Even if they did, I can tell you they would probably be impossible to find. Just buy an already built rig if you don't want to fuck with it. There are plenty around. Check www.naxja.org if you are looking specifically for an XJ (cherokee).

^^I was misinformed is why.
Cherokee's didn't come w/ lockers in any year or trim level.
Thanx for the link!
