One last hurrah

The car has a tank full of 104, and 26psi. I took the car out on the freeway late this afternoon for 'some fun'.

I buried the speed above 180. Easily. Oh My God. It was STILL pulling. Between Castle Rock and Monument on that 2 mile stretch. I went by a car as if it were standing still/in reverse.

One last hurrah. I'd been to 160 before and let off. Took the exits on either end a few times to get a feel for it around 140 and then let 'er rip. Wasn't really sure what I was trying to do/prove, but I had to really push the car and see what was available at 26psi. The car dynoed at 626 rwhp running 26psi, and I've tuned it since. So it HAD to be like 650 hp at the wheels.

Wow. What a rush. 180 mph. The car was AMAZINGLY stable at that velocity. Things go by unbelievably fast.

Just wanted to share. Never been moving that fast on the ground, and most likely probably never will.

I'm sure I'll miss that 650 hp under my right foot, but such is life. I just hope the guy buying the car will actually respect it and/or be afraid of it.

Holy crap thats fast. Ive been to about 130-135 with the neon when it was turbo and at sea level, but i was about to shit my wheaties cause its so unstable. Were all gonna miss the supra, but as David said itll be cool to see an 11sec Audi A4:Beer: .

There wasn't enough room for more. And yes - I know it wasn't very smart, but I had to do it. Somewhat of a 'farewell rush'.

And these cars are built to perform at speed. I was overcome with amazement that the car could:

a) get to that speed that fast

b) feel as if I were driving at 80 mph

And no - no death wish. I built the car, so I have a pretty good feel for the shape it's in mechanically. Wheels, tires, wheel bearings, suspension, power, etc.

I know what the car is capable of, and after speaking with others who have pushed their cars to that speed, I had to try it. I didn't plan on pushing it as far as I did, but it just kept pulling. :)
