We looked at a house this weekend that has gas appliances, my question is does anyone have a gas dryer? what would be the pros/cons for a gas dryer?
Any help is appreciated.
Electricity is cheaper than gas?

I bet gas dryers can warm your clothes faster. I've had plenty of electrical dryers that take a good 15 minutes to get warm and by the end of the cycle my clothes are still damp.

With natural gas prices as high as they are, I'd rather go with an electric dryer. I would prefer a gas range over electric, though.

thx everyone... does anyone have a gas dryer? I agree with hung, i think that a gas range would out perform over a electric.

Online statistics show that a gas dryer saves anywhere from 6 cents to 9 cents per load.
Figure $25-$40 a year cheaper to use a gas dryer. Not a good reason to install a gas line, but if you've got hookups for either, may as well go with a gas unit.

Yeah gas dryers tend to be cheaper... even with gas prices so high... electric dryers use SOOOO much energy they are usually more expensive to run.

Simon, I have both a gas dryer and stove/oven. Back in the day, they were more efficient AND cheaper to run. Not so much on the cheaper part any more.
But I would say it both kick ass compared to electric... but at a price.
Get a clothes line. :)
lol best winter idea ever.

Throw them in your oven like Cramer in Seinfeld

we might make an offer on this place. we already have our own washer/dryer so i might have the seller install a plug for the dryer so i wouldn't even use the gas.
another thing we dont' like about the house is the laundry room is very small, we are debating if we do buy the place to move the laundry room down in the basement since it's not finished.

I'm sorry. Why didn't you sue them? Gas has no higher risk than electric.

Were we supposed to just devine that information from the 4 words in your post?
Accidents happen. You could have just as easily died from electric shock. You could tear you face off in a car accident, but I'm willing to bet you still drive right?
It sucks that happens to you, but you can't expect that everyone in the world already knows what you have experienced.
