Tires for a Volvo 940. This is kind of a repost, maybe

I plan on doing a few autocrosses and shit, and I live in Florida so snow doesn't exist, ever. Anyone have opinions on these tires? The V4S's are somehow rated higher than the Kuhmo Ecsta MX's, despite being an all season tire. Price is about the same, and they're both rated higher than my last planned tire purchase, which was supposed to be either Yoko H4S's or Kuhmo Supra 712's.

HALP

Tire ratings really aren't worth anything, unless it's an actual test on the same car, at the same course, and you're comparing measured speeds and times. I'm assuming the V4S'es are the Avid's, right? The MX will grip more, but wear out faster, and of course be crappy in the snow. I find it highly annoying to have tires that wear out that fast on a street driven car.

I worry about that, yeah. I still do really long trips in this car, so that seems like kind of a waste of performance tires :frown:

I have put around 25k on the ES100s I had on my old Sentra, they went through lots of autocrosses and events, and lots of hard daily driving.

Ecsta MXs wear out much more quickly.. if you want more of a compromise I would consider the ES100s.. do they even still make those? If not.. get a comparable tire.. I haven't paid attention recently to see which would be an adequate alternate.

My V4S pulled good 60' in drag racing, I didnt think they cornered very well.

Pulled a 1.655 and 1.690 one night, all wheel drive of course.
