I just got done perusing a copy of 5.0 Magazine (hey, gotta know the competition :D ) and ran high 11.95 with just a few mods.
With a full Bassani catback, full catylists in place X pipe and large K&N filter they hit 400.0 hp to the ground. The Xpipe and the rest of the exhaust alone netted 384whp.
At the end of the day they returned the Cobra back to stock and with the track cold they ran a series of 13.1s-13.2s,not too bad a numbers (11s for under $1k) ,I do have to tip my hat to Ford on this one.;wor;

Yep, lots of hype on this car. Corvette boys are starting to feel the competition (sucks when your 50th anniversary year car is just a special badge...)
I say it remains to be seen how they do at this altitude, although supercharging should help some.

I take it these numbers are from sea level?
14's here or slower. I think I remember one at all ford day that ran high 14's with exhaust.

I think they'll probably run 14.1 to 14.4 at Bandimere as long as the guy behind the wheel has a clue about driving.

Those very low 13s were done on unprepped track and I've seen three other test that are netting 12.8s so maybe a high 13 is realistic up here. The next logical upgrade on the Cobra would be a smaller blower pulley plus the previous mods could net a low 12 up here.
Boy am I glad I have the bigger turbo in place. :guns:

I think you will find that we are one of the more well rounded groups out there. We all give respect where it is due :)

I'd like to think were just a bunch of car guys who just happen to drive an import plus it's good to know what the car in the next lane has the potential to run.;)

lol my car is by far not "the shit" i lose all the time... i got stuck with the 145 hp model from 95... blows ass, but hey... more to mod right? haha. yeah i lost to a del sol the other night... made me feel better when he popped his hood and had 8g turbos under there... lol
I'm told in the latest MM&FF they did a pulley swap and some intake/exhaust mods and netted 441 rwhp. It ran high 11s at 119. Too bad the thing has to weigh 12,000lbs. If they could have just dropped some weight on that behemoth it would really fly.

they tried using an aluminum block to save weight... but it blew up lol... so they had to go with an iron block... that adds about 300 pounds. But yeah, put another pulley on that thing and it does fly. The s/c is only giving 5lbs of boost... get it up to 11 psi or so and that thing would just take off.

Have you considered charging your stang? I'm shady on the exact details, but my friend knew someone who SC'd the 3.8 in his 96 along with some internal upgrades and he was smoking Z28's. I don't know if that included nitrous though, I'll try to find out the exact details.

Just tell them you hang out with a group of people with imports that shame their little anal probes. Mention that we have 160 hp with a 4cyl Civic SI and their V6 is mustering a whopping 165"usuk:
Oh yeah, forgot to mention. your car would pick up more chicks than their cars would! You gotta put the youngin's in their place!

how strong are those 3.8 engines??? i wonder how much boost they could handle.
i know s/c's are preferred in the V8 world, but i wonder what a turbo could do for your 3.8

The S/C T-Birds ran the 3.8 ltr, so it has been done. No clue on how hard it can be blown into though.

My bro-in-law's dad just got one, I will post pics here soon, I hear it's pretty quick. Can't wait to ride in it even though I am a Bowtie man.

theres not many turbo kits out for our cars... one guy makes one thats like 3700 bucks and is adjustable from 5-8psi... its supposed to add anywhere from 80-165 HP on a stock engine... and modified (P&P, heads, cam, RR's) it can gain up to 300 theyre claiming...

At last wednesday's tech and test there was a 03 Cobra that I saw run twice. First run was a 14.1xx, and the second run was a 14.0xx. It still had the temp tags on it, so it's doubtfull that the car was making it's full power potential for stock. Anybody that runs a high 14 in an 03 cobra, especially if it has exhaust, doesn't know how to drive. My 02 GT with just x-pipe, and catback runs high 14's with mid 14 second trap speeds, and crappy 2.3-2.4 60 foot times. I read a while ago on stangnet about an 03 Cobra that made 461rwhp with K&N filter, smaller blower pulley, midpipe, and catback. The new Cobra's will easily be a 500+hp bolt-on car.
