I have an AWD 1G Eclipse built from the ground up. Lately, the clutch seems to be on it's way out. It's a Centerforce dual friction clutch with about hard 20 runs at Bandi. Is that the life expectancy for a $400+ clutch? Engine HP is about 390 @ the flywheel.

I got about 60 launches out of the CFDF in my old '93 GSX.

How do you launch?

I got well over a hundred strip launches and at least 30 street launches out of my last 2600 and on my new one I've got over 50 launches and it still holds consistent 1.8 60's just fine....and that's with 5500-6000 rpm launches but I'm not dumping the clutch,I've learned a pretty good feel and technique for slipping the clutch enough to reduce the shock on the driveline.

I have a WRX pushing around 350hp (flywheel) and I have put on about 30-40 passes down the strip minus playing around on the street with 5000-6000rpm launches and 30,000 miles on it as well and it STILL seems to be holding up just fine.

Granted I am only pulling 1.9 60' as of late but I have also burned this clutch quite a bit in my learning process. I do a 5500rpm quick release but NO clutch sidestep or drop after I am rolling just a little bit.

How do you launch? I start at 5500 and feather it up to 6500. At the last car club clash I dumped it at 6000 right as the car started to move.

Then with launches like those you'll be needing a 2600lb clutch soon. :)

It's a trade off... slip it to save the drive line and you shorten clutch life. Slip it less, and you risk breaking something.

If you're going to run the car a lot, plan on replacing the clutch at the start of the season. If you "budget" for it, and don't need it... great.

I LAUNCH AT 5500 RPM AND SLIP OFF THE CLUTCH AND FLOORING IT AT THE SAME TIME THATS CALLED GETTING A HELL OF A LAUNCH MY 60 FT. IS 1.8 IN A 2600 ACT CLUTCH WITH OVER EIGHTY LAUNCHES AND IT STILL FEELS GREAT, AND I HAVE HEARD A LOT OF BAD THINGS ON CENTERFORCE CLUTCHES ON DSM CARS I SAY GO WITH ACT 2600 YOUR AWD WILL LOVE IT AND YOU WILL TOO.

I'm going into my 3rd season with my 2600 and it's still pulling 1.81-1.85 60's consistently but I do have another sitting in the garage when this one gives up the ghost.

I'd get the RPMS to 6k at the line, bring them up to 6500 and just step off the clutch. Perfect 1.7 60' times on nitto 450 street tires wiht 32psi in them.

What tires & pressure are you using? Are you spinning all 4 for just a bit off the line?

Also, realize that clutches are to be considered consumeables when you start making some decent power and launch it like you hate it.

There is a button on the left side of your keyboard. It's called CAPS LOCK. Please depress it to disable CAPS LOCK, ok? CAPS LOCK may be fine for AOL or Instant Messaging, but this is far from either of those.

Thanks in advance. FYI, using ALL CAPS is considered YELLING w/regard to netiquette.
