Well I don't know what it is but I have something I need to ask about, I know this might not go in this section but I have to post fast because I am using my buddies computer.

Today I was driving around this this Suzuki, it was my buddies car.. Well we pull off to the side and I am joking with him and I tell him to pop his hood. So he pops his hood and I go and look at what’s under the hood, and I seen this wired ass motor, and then the valve cover said "d-tec" I was like WTF.

Now this is like the third car I have seen with something like this, D-tec and I forget the others that I have seen. So I go and I get in the driver seat and I push his car a little to see if the "D-tec" kicks in LOL" and I did not feel jack shit. So what is it, I thought it was like Suzuki "vtec" but anyway WTF is this shit lol im lost..

It's a way for poor guys to feel fast like the rest of us.

Ford has the Zetec, and Suzuki obviously has d-tec. What you have to remember is that vtec is an akronymn for the variable valve timing system. Just because some ends in "tec" doesn't mean they are talking about the same thing. lol

LoL it's just wired because, on the valve cover it says "dtec" just like the VTEC logo on a honda. It's wired lol I figured it did not mean the samething. But it's just funny lol.

Variable valve timing is nothing new. Many cars these days have it.

The fact that it looks just like the honda valve cover, but it don't mean anything to be honest. But yeah thats what I was trying to say "weird' lol grammer is my week point. And it don't help that I type fast and don't go back over my shit to make sure it's all good..

tons of cars have something similar to vtec.

some only have variably valve timing, while some have variable valve timing + variable valve lift.

honda's VTEC = VVT + VVL (this is true for B and D, the K's might differ)
toyota's VVT-I = VVT (the "I" means w/ intelligence)
toyota's VVTL-I = VVT + VVL
not sure bout any other companies

but in any case you wont always hear/feel anything when it kicks in. i couldnt really hear/feel anything on my moms CRV with the K24

Mitsubishi=MIVEC
BMW= VANOS and super VANOS
Porsche= Variocam
audi and VW both have it, don't bother calling it anything special
nissan has valve timing too, can't recall it either at the moment.
