Watch late night tv until you see the guy in the dollar sign suit. His book tells you all about that.

I think there are a couple of commie municipalities in the US who will give you a couple of thousand if you are black and your parents have no education. I've never heard of anything like that in Colorado though.

get with a reputable accountant. I wasn't aware of any grants, but my accountant made sure we got every single deduction and went above and beyond a normal accountant every year.

When we first opened, business was doing good, this was when gas was under 2 bucks. Then gas prices started creeping up, and everyone got stingy with their money. To make matters worse, Wal-mart opened up a Supercenter less then 3 blocks away, and that affected us some what too. Once our lease was up, we closed up shop because the location just didn't work out.

walmart is evil theyre running everyone out of business:werd: They originally had a Walmart off 3rd & Wadsworth, but they they were going to change to a super center, so they built a super center off Colfax and Wads, less then 1 mile away. Well they shut down the one on 3rd, just to change that one into a Supercenter as well. So right now they have 2 Supercenters less then a mile from each other.

Google is your friend.

Here's the website for the infomercial guy Matthew Lesko Click (http://www.governmentgrant.com/)

And here's Business Week talking about how most of the free money deals are a scam Click (http://www.businessweek.com/smallbiz/0001/sa000111.htm)

ok...first and foremost, get to know someone that is a grant writer. The toughest thing in getting a grant of any kind is having the proper wording for it to fit in to what the money qualifies for. The other reason you will need a grant writer is because a lot of grants are time related. You can't expect to write something like this with out the help of a professional.

Get to know this site very well:
http://www.state.co.us/oed/small-business/small-business-faq.cfm

It will help you answer alot of questions that you have.

A lot of grants are given on a local level not even state or National level, but those are available too.

Honestly you will think its crazy but try going to one of those free seminars. They offer a ton of information but if you are looking to use their resources it will cost you a ton.

oh and Matthew Lesko's books are legit, only issue is that because of when they are printed most of the grants will be long gone. Like I said...they are all time specific.

I have Mathew Leskos book. Unfortunatly there isn't much listed in it for Colorado. Those that are in there you have to meet an income range to get. Most of those are a higher income range as well (+70k/year for one income not household) A lawyer isn't a bad start either as they usually have contact lists for these types of things.
