on my CRX, my car blew a 30 on the C0 reading, and allwed is 20...I used some of that GTP stuff, did one tank, and then filled with 91 and a gallon of denatured alcohol and it dropped it to 15! I also had an exhaust silencer in, I don't know if that made a difference tho...

ill post again tommorrow night..anyone know how long you have to get it fixed and retested? also, do you get a discount on payment the 2nd time around?

The second test is no charge, as far as I know. I'm not sure how long you have before you have to get it retested.

I believe its 15 days to get it retested if you fail the first one.

what gtp stuff did you use? and you mixed that with your existing fuel, then drove till the tank was empty then put the 91 and alc in there?
It'd really help if you shared your mods list, IMNSHO. got a fuel controller?

Just the general Guarenteed to Pass stuff you can get at checker, yep, and then drove that tank dry. The day of, I did a gallon of denatured (must be denatured!!) that you can get at Ace Hardware or something, filled with 91, and then I passed just fine!
BTW, what boost are you running during the testing??

nolimit: im running 5psi
john: here are the mods
b18b
je 9:1
shotpeened rods
machined head gasket
255 lph pump
440 rc injectors
safc
a/f, boost, oilpress gauges
turbo timer
turbonetics t3t4
aem cam gears untuned
i just moved here from baltimore so i dont really know how to compensate the fuel for the lack of air up here. i have it set at -30% correction right now..any tips on leaning it out?

anyone got any tips..havent tried the GTP stuff yet but will if i cant figure out this SAFC deal.
When I take my cars to get smogged, I drive around for 15-20 min on the highway to get the cat(s) REALLY hot.
Then I lean out the 1000-4000 rpm range about 10%. The ECU will be trying to compensate for that, but I've had good luck so far. I cchose the 1000-4000 rpm range for they Envirotest place that I go to, as they run the car at 1000 rpm, then put a load on the car and run it at 2500 (and 3000 I think) rpm.
I'm guessing that the HC number was from unburned fuel, but I'm not all that smart on emissions. You have a 255 lph fuel pump - do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? Do you know what your static fuel pressure is? You may be running pretty high FP, causing more fuel than is required to be squirted by the injectors. Pulling fuel via the AFC will help, but not sure how much. If this is the case (big FP, no regulator).
You are running 440 injectors - what size are your stock injectors? What AFC settings did you use to try and pass emissions the first time?

i did the GTP stuff (the fuel cleaner that is supposed to clean out the tank/injectors etc)
i now and am almost empty. IS it safe to use the denatured alcohol with a turbo motor? ive got a new gallon here just wondering if its safe to use.
i had the safc on -30% correction through 7k rpms
i have since leaned it out to -40% and put on a silencer.
i have no adjustable fpr, but im running a 6:1 fmu with 55psi static.
i need to get a hondata or someother system and junk the FMU.
anyone have any other tips?
I dunno what a 6:1 FMU is - explain?
Without being able to back off the fuel pressure, you are going to be running pig rich I'd think. Even pulling a bunch of fuel out via the AFC.
Do you have any way to read the O2 sensor voltage? Or what your fuel trims are? I'd bet they are all over the board trying to get the AFR to something manageable.
Or not - I may be talking out of my butt.
Yes - you can run some alcohol thru the system w/o hurting it.
Is swapping the stock injectors back in an option?
Was your cat converter HOT?

For every one pound of boost, fuel pressure in increased 6psi. (Edit: Say you're running 10psi with a base fuel pressure at idle of 40psi. Under full boost fuel pressure is roughly 100psi! )
IMO, they're hack jobs for people who don't want to/can't afford a proper fuel system. FMU's are the main reason people with aftermarket FI kits blow motors (they have a tendancy to stick) and unless you're using a really nice one like a Cartech they're hard to tune.
Cars that come with FI don't use them, they just use a standard 1:1 regulator.

where in the mtns can i hit that up? you know of a specific city/emissions place.
yeah i need to get rid of my FMU ASAP but i cant find anyone that can tune HONDATA here in CO.
i dont have the stock injectors anymore unfortunately..they were sold a while back.
I just got back from baltimore and its all over there and northern VA so i decided to get a stage 2 setup with boost, however you cant tune the stage 2 without the software etc so if someone knows anyone that has a stage 4+ lemme know please!

That's why I went with an AEM. It was actually cheaper than a 4b Hondata and more powerfull too. The downside is it's complicated.
Ick! ICK! Just say no. Get a real FPR?
Thanks for the explanation, newt2.

Anywhere up the mountains really but you have to register it up there thus excepting you from going to get checked :) Mine is still register in Vail and i havent lived there in 4 years and its cheaper on insurance too

luken: i actually have maryland plates on my car still since im in the process of moving here from baltimore.
do i just go to any mva location in vail and have it registered there?
can you give me some more info please.
thanks
You will have to have an address in the township/county/etc you register it in. For example, if you have a pal who lives in Vail...

Go up to Park County and get a P.O. Box, they don't have emission laws, and it's a lot closed than vail or something.

I have a five gas analyzer at work, Im sure for a little bit of money they would let me stick it on there and try to lean it out a little and get her to pass.

i have a set for obd1 cars and obd 2 cars(d series)
but i would just let FULTHROTTLE hook you up.. he should be able to get you into the ballpark if he uses a 5 gas on it..
it would be better that the hit and miss shots at trying to pass.. at least in my opinion...

Yeah, what he said. I can try it with the injectors you have, and maybe It can be adjusted to pass and then readjusted to make power again. If you wnat to set something up PM me and well get her going.
