View Full Version : Headlights/electrical problem

So lately when I've been getting off work late at night in negative temperatures my headlights don't work in conjunction with the running lights. The stalk positions are now off, running lights, and headlights (running's turn off in this position). It started doing it just once (turn it all off, back on and it's fine), then only when the car warmed up last weekend, and tonight it didn't work at all on my 20 minute drive.

Does anybody know what the hell is going on here? Short? Need new wiring? Other?
Or what I should do to diagnose the problem?

possibly a relay is sticking in the cold weather? I have had this problem also, but it was on a fuel pump relay.

Thanks, I'll check that out today.

Anyone else wanna chime in?

Probably the light switch itself. They get old and start to go bad, then the cold weather makes them worse.

Yeah, I've had problems with switches. They are easy to change, turn the wheel sideways, 2 screws, pry up the small clip while pulling towards the door and unplug.

That's for a Civic/Integra at least.

Alright, thanks for the help guys. I'm gonna get a new one off eBay, and I'll let you know if I run into trouble switching them.
