Fraud Help

A guy I know at work's wife got taken for $7K by a work from home payment processing scam. She's pretty depressed about it. I told him some legal stuff to do, but does anybody know any Web sites or groups to help them deal with this? $7K is a lot of money to these people.

What about news channels? Legal stuff costs money, they may get somewhere for free with that.

I'm pretty sure their money is in Romania by now, I'm thinking more of support to help them get through this. Their bank account is negative and they've got bills.

You mean monitary support?

United Way? They have a number here, 311 or something that anyone can call. I'm sure they could hook them up with food and stuff like that if it is that bad. They could probably call their public services and ask for some sort of temp deferment because of the situation so that nothing at home gets shut off.

I hate to be a bad guy but in reality if you get suckered into something I can't think of much that is setup to help you aside from yourself, family, and friends. Sell some assets, get a night job, downgrade your car?

It's hard to say because we don't know their full situation. I'm just trying to think what I would do if I was in their situation and it would basically be up to me to sell things or bring in more income unless someone I knew wanted to help out. I think the United Way type stuff is a good place to start for real neccesities.

I really dont think there is anything to do. I have had 3 customers scammed in couple of months when people pose as sales people for us and sell them products for far less than I ever would. These people get so excited about the great price they just send the money wherever.

One couple sent $2000 to London and then called me for help because no one could do anything. It's a shame but who do they have to blame but themselves?
