Damn it, you ass. I seriously doubt many people in here are going to argue against variable valve timing. It's a pain for ricer fucks like you to tune with sometimes, but it's not as if it's some horrible technology that is out of date. I mean, seriously.. what the hell?

in all seriousness, VTEC motors burn more oil because VTEC engages using oil, and when the oil is used more, it tends to break down faster, and be used up quicker. almost any engine out there today that uses some form of oil actuated valve/cam timing burn similar amounts of oil.
