Hey guys, the whole RSX thing didnt work out cuz of payments, but now im thinkin of a sick engine swap for my Volvo 240. I could stuff a 2JZ-GTE Engine into my engine bay, but the cost is to much, so i was thinkin about a Nissan 280Z engine swap. I would most likely have to have custom engine mounts made but hell, id pay for the output of th engine. If anyone finds a Nissan 280Z for sale or even just the engine, please let me know, it would be the craziest sleeper. If its feasable please let me know also but im pretty sure it will fit. My car is Rear Wheel drive. It will be my winter project. If anyone wants to have some fun this winter, email me at inline@intrex.net. See yall at the track friday :gapteeth:

If you're considering an engine swap in a 240 the only way to go is V8! Check out http://www.converseengineering.com/

There was an article in Car & Driver a few years ago about V8 Volvo conversions - apparently a bunch of celebrities drive around V8 conversion wagons to remain anonymous while hauling some major A$$.

Let us know if you decide to do it - that's the ultimate sleeper!

Do it up paul. Im gonna do some looking today in junkyards for the 280Z and see how much they are wanting for it. I really dont think you care about the mileage because you were going to rebuild it anyways right? Well i'll see if i can find any and let ya know.

P.S. Think about doing a V8 like Bikenski mentioned.

That V8 swap is super sleaper. I love the pics of the wagons lighting up the tires, that kicks ass.

Ive been to the Converse site soooo many times. The thought of a V8 under the hood is nuts. To get it done through them costs $5000 and takes 3 weeks though, but hell, it would make drifting my car a shitload easier. Be kinda funny to see my big ass car running 15 second 1/4's. Still want to look for the 280Z engine though, and if i cant find one for a reasonable price i might have to go V8, hehehehe. Make some ricers ;wor; to the Brick

V8 would be cheaper to mod in the long run. Easier to mount also.
The suspensoin on the old box might need some attention thoughto handle the weight.

your talking 280zx turbo right? yeah that would be a good choice, and far more reliable and cheaper to mod than a 350ci. and you can find the engine for around 200 bucks. check the junk yards and 99%will drop right in without needing any work, it takes ALOT to kill this motor.

hmmm....B234FT. Nothing like a twin cam turbo engine. Altough that 280Zx engine would haul ass.

Yea, i found my engine, im gonna go with a Volvo B234FT. Its a DOHC Turbo Block. It can handle around 18 PSI on the stock internals, Found a guy who has 3 of em in his garage. I think the HP Rating is something like 260 @ 6 psi. Ill run around 14 psi at the track and 10 on street. Ill finally have a quick car! Should have the engine within 2 months

cool!! awesome find!
will this mount up to your trans?
is there a special clutch application?
if you make this work.. you will have an ass kicking volvo..
and then some!!!!!!!!!!!"beat:
to say the least, you can drift with a powerful concept pushing the wheels.....burning rubber is no problem with extra power..
trust me , i know.. my car is a shining example.:king:

I dont think paul will be drifting too much anymore, not after last night, two blown tires will do the trick for anybody.

Its supposed to mount up with my transmission, most of the volvo trannys were either AW71 (auto, mine) or M46 (standard POS) and it mounts directly to either one. Havent heard anything in the way of special clutch application, though when i get thee swap im gonna get an MVP Torque Converter, raises stall speed to 2800 RPM instead of mines 2300 stall speed. Supposedly takes 1 second off 0-60 times, hope thats true :Hook:
