The parts finally came in for my truck. With Vince's help, I got my new axle *shaft* put in.
Sorry no pics, forgot the camera.
We took it up to carnage canyon today to try it out along with the new chains. We only played around for a bit and stayed close to the main road because we were alone. We chained up all 4 and it was awesome! It was kinda wierd, we weren't busting new tracks but the tracks there weren't an ATV and didn't look like chains.
Chains just tear through the snow. There was probably about a foot of fresh snow on top of who knows how much packed down snow. For anyone who has been there before, we got passed the squeeze and turned around. There weren't that many big rocks up to that point since they were all iced/snowed over.
I'm game to go somewhere next weekend if anyone has a capable rig. Cornbread? Will chains clear your fenders?
what kind rig do you have?

So you replaced the whole front axle?

Jeff: No, I broke a u-joint and that shredded the inner and outter axle shafts. I bought lifetime warrantied u-joints and 10yr chromoly shafts. I bought replacements for both sides but only got the broken one replaced the other day. Chains won't clear your fender flares since the tires still rub, huh?

Yeah, I remember you busting your u-joint. I just assumed from the way you originally worded it that you decided on a whole new axle (I thought that was an option you were considering after it happened).
And if you're asking me about chains, they would clear fine, just not while flexing all the way. That would tear some shit right up. And I still haven't bought any chains... :D

Yea i worded it wrong, mah bad. Fixed it though, just for you ;)
I figured as much about tearing shit up on your fenders. They tear shit up on the trail though!

lol yea I know. I'd like to get some 40s but $450/ea is holding me back. I also want to get some softer springs up front so that will drop it down a bit.

oh yeah i forgot its not about the "wheeling" with you. Mall parking lots are the extent of your travels. Maybe next time the curb wont break your u-joint.

When you are ready to buy tires, let me know. I'll hook you up with the guy that runs the Broomfield Discount Tire. He can probably get them a bit cheaper for you.
