Has anyone had any luck getting their lowered cars tested?
My 94 hatch is really not that low compared to most EGs I see on the road, and has the factory bumpers and whatnot.
I've tried going to the center off Havana several times, and also Parker a couple weeks ago.
I'm on my last 30 day temp tag and NEED to get this car registered or I'll have to just sell the fucking thing.
The ride-height is not adjustable, so that's not an option
Has anyone else had any luck with any particular centers? Or anyone that knows a guy or something?
The problem is that the side skirt (OEM Honda) will occasionally hit the metal restraint that they put behind the tire. They tested it in Parker for a minute or so and then the supervisor made the tech stop and I left empty handed once again.
What do I do?

The Boulder location seems to be the best. For whatever reason, Boulder is the place to go for both the DMV and emissions, even though I would have expected them to be Nazi's about it, given the nature of the City of Boulder.
your the guy in parker right? theres one up on County Line and Colorado - i took my EJ up there - and it did alright. if your car is still too low, borrow a set of rims from a buddy. if you threw on some 22's you'd be golden.

I'm not from parker but I've been known to cruise there occasionally.
Another buddy of mine told me to go to the one on County Line as well.
I tried 16's @ the aurora station and they said there wasn't enough tire. Even though there was more than 17" diameter which is what they claim to be the minimum.
If worse comes to worse, I know someone who knows someone. I'd rather do it legit though...
I may take off the side skirts and front bumper so they have no reason to complain.

HAHA there's the opposite thread on the local 4x4 forum. They won't test any tire over 33"

So lame too. We had to keep a set of 33's for our jeeps to get them tested.

If push came to shove I don't see how selling the car would be easier then perhaps putting some stock springs on it or some coilovers on it in order to raise it up for the test.

The thief in my other thread stole my only jack. Haha. It probably wouldn't be too bad, but it's just a pain in the ass.
I'm going to try county line as is... and then if it's a no go, I'm going to borrow some coilovers for the front and raise the front.
I can't wait to see the look on the peoples faces when I drive by dragging ass like a minitruck.

they wouldn't test mine right after I put my coilovers on, at 112th and irma. so I had to go home and raise the bitch back up for them to even consider me. ASSHOLES!

Ok I am new to colorado. How does the emission stuff work. Can we have turbos on there or what. Does it have to be stock or just pass?
marcrx5
01-10-2007, 02:01 PM
It has to pass and has to have all the original emissions equipment in place for a visual inspection.
royalworks
01-10-2007, 02:03 PM
is that all they need is a visual inspection?
marcrx5
01-10-2007, 02:24 PM
You need to pass a visual inspection and you have to pass a sniffer test.
Sorry, my previous post sucked, and this one isn't much better.

How do they go by testing it in ur guys' area? I thought they just stick a probe in the exhaust and give it gas! thats how they did it here!

I had to raise my car up and take off my front lip to get on the Emissions rollers.
As for passing emissions, I didn't have to pass a sniffer, at least not that I'm aware of, and the visual inspection is a joke here.

You're contradicting yourself by saying you had to raise your car to get it on the rollers, but you didn't have to pass a sniffer. While your car is on the rollers there is an exhaust analyzer that is hooked up to your tail pipe.

As of January 1, 2007, the gasoline emissions inspection program in El Paso, Larimer, and Weld Counties (Basic Area) is scheduled to end. Gasoline vehicles will no longer be required to have an emissions inspection to be sold, registered for the first time, or reregistered in these counties.

Not really...
Is the Denver emissions program going away?
No. The Denver Metro Area’s I/M program is still necessary to help control ozone precursor pollutants.

so they did away with emissions testing here in the springs?

For Royalworks, I passed my turbo storm by having all my emissions stuff hooked up. The guy opened the hood looked right at my turbo, said cool, then shut it and put the car on the dyno.

thanks man. I am just putting my car back to stock so i can drive it to work and back. So I think that I will be good in that department. Once it gets registered and tested I won't ever have to do it again?

every year from the last used car that I owned, it supposed to be random every other year, so there is a chance you won't have to test.
yay for new cars not needing it for the first 5 years haha

Ok I think I can handle that. Just keep the emissions shit on there and a cat and I am golden.
