I got the verbal offer today. I'll be the east coast Consulting Engineer for http://www.pacstar.com . I'm moving from a two billion dollar company to a fifty million dollar company, so it should be interesting. I was out in Portland last week meeting everybody, and it's a very high-tech, and nicely laid-back bunch. I'm starting on 01/02/07 and can't wait, not that my current job was bad or anything, but the new job looks like a lot more fun.
awesome! congrats. so does the smaller company offer more in the way of financial compensation, or is it a move purely for the "fun factor" ?

Mostly fun, although I will be taking a position with a lot more responsibility and will be compensated accordingly. Smaller organizations are usually less structured, so I'll have a lot more freedom to improvise and use my judgement, plus I'll be a lot closer to upper management than I am now (current employer is a South African company).
cool! good luck in your ventures.

I'll be staying in NC. They are doing a lot of business with DOD, so they need someone out here to work with federal customers in DC, Norfolk, Langley, etc.
