Addiction is all a matter of mind control some people have it some don't I have tried drugs, smoked, drank cofffe and Liquor and have been able to not take them when ever I wanted. I quit smoking cold in one day after smoking for 7 years. I only drink coffe when it is colder than hell, I don't drink pop etc...

I never got into the whole grind-it-yourself, coffee press, etc hoopla. I just buy my 3lb can of coffee from Costco, brew it every morning on my cheapie Mr. Coffee coffemaker and I'm happy and wired.

Bah, coffee isnt a drug to get a 'buzz'! It's a form of art! It takes practice to get the right grind size, the right amount of water, the right filtered water, the right amount of boiling time, etc.

Hell caffeine doesnt even do a thing for me. Coffee is about the taste.

And even bring up that bitter crappiness that 99% of America drinks. I drank mud that had more flavors and aroma that robusta crap. Arabica that is grown by Japanese farmers on the island of Japan is were it is at! With so much flavors and aromas that I can piss in it, stir, and it still taste like liquid sex.

yeah i'm the same way, do you have a slow metabolism? I've noticed that my mom and my brother are the same way and we both have a really slow metabolism. I've quit smoking a couple times only to start up again, peer pressure sucks big time!

...ridiculous statement. I know people who say "being cold is a matter of mind control. Don't think you're cold, you won't be cold" -- these are the same people that bend spoons with their minds, by realizing there is no spoon.

many addictions are physical they have nothing to do with your mind. Take for example my drunkeness. If I take a day off I wake up the next morning with the worst hangover ever...it's all the shit of drinking but without the fun.

Interesting comment on the slow metabolism. I think my lil bro and I are the exceptions to that tho; we both have ridiculously slow metabolism but I'm hooked on booze and he's hooked on the herb...

Caffeine will definately become a physical dependency if you use a lot of it.

I only drink it routinely when I am at work. Sometimes when I am off but its the flavor that I enjoy. I don't really notice much of a caffeine high nor a dependency.

I'm addicted to Mountain Dew(or the caffeine in it). As mentioned above, I also get a killer headache if I go 24+ hours without a Dew. I have an average of about 1 20oz. bottle a day:( I'm not proud of it, but I really do love the taste and I think it goes with all my favorite foods too.

chris -- as stated above; I'm not arguing a 'personality' trait. I'm arguing a physical addiction. However, just like everything else in the world I'm sure people deal with it differently. I would suppose there is a chance that somewhere out there there is a person who could never, ever be physically addicted to anything; kinda like the possibility that somewhere there is an exact duplicate of me, doing exactly the same thing as me right now, but purple with yellow eyes..... :rolleyes:
