View Full Version : Quick Tuning Question (QTQ)....
....lol @ "QTQ". Anyways...
If I throw my 3-bar on my car and am still on my stock ECU using a VAFC, is it tuneable, or will the new voltage mess with my ECU? I understand it would need to be retuned, but I just need to know if it's possible.

You have to change your input sensor type on the VAFC... I think it's PR-10 for the GM 3-bar. But you still run the risk of additional boost causing the output from the VAFC to be too high and causing the ECU to throw a CEL, unless you get bigger injectors to compensate for that.
Well, wideband FTW I suppose? Thanks Weston...
*edit* I just looked at my VAFC and I'm not seeing a sensor type of PR-10 anywhere.
From what I'm finding on Honda-Tech, they're saying to set the sensor IN to 06 and sensor OUT to 14, or 14 IN 14 OUT... hmmm.

Well, they'd be idiots then because you want IN to reflect the new sensor type and OUT to be the stock sensor type. Otherwise the reading that shows on the AFC's display would be all wrong; there's no reason you should have to do it backwards anyway.

I'd start to worry about your timing with how much you'd be leaning out the injectors. Too much advance FTL.
I'll give your way a shot and do 14 IN (GM), and 06 OUT (Honda).. I'll update in a minute.

Yeah, I REALLY need to just get it on Crome/Uberdata at the very least, but I need to get ahold of an Ostrich or something. Bah.

matt, just have computerJLT tune it for you for now. you can sell your VAFC to cover the cost, and down the road you can buy an ostrich and do it yourself.
idont run that much boost on the VAFC

yeah but if your selling one i want it!
Yeah, I'm not running much at the moment, but I keep pissing off my ECU, and it's obviously killing my gas mileage. And now that I'm doing a lot of driving for work, I need to get something figured out.

 Hondata and neptune don't have much on crome. Especially for the price.

They come tuned without knock, verified by the dyno sheet that comes along with it.
