Well I keep running into problems with my current sub/amp/box setup. I have a rockford fosgate 800a2 amp that was tested at 932 watts at 2 ohms. I have a rockford fosgate HE 15in a box built exactly to fosgate sealed box specs(2.5 cu feet). When I first put the sub in it sounded great,my guess would be around 140 db or so. It sounded great right up until it blew. I figured it was a case of not having the gain set correctly so I tried turning it down, and exteneded the break in period on the new sub to about 3 hours. again it sounded great right until the voice coil broke in half.Well I am now on my fourth sub(thank god for warranty). And it is now blown. i checked and re-checked all my wiring and have tried the gain in every position possible to no avail.I called the fosgate tech help line(very friendly by the way)and he told me that I was simply running too much power. The HE is rated at 200 watts rms 400 peak so I have more than double the peak power.Well I can still get a new sub under warranty and I can probably sell my current sub/box setup. The fosgate tech suggested anhx2, the only problem with that is that stores only stock the dual 4 ohm voice coil version which would mean I could either push my amp at 1 ohm or 8 ohm neither is a desireable situation. They have a dual 2 ohm version but it is special order only at soundtrack which means i can't get a discount on it. Can anyone think of a better setup to go with? I dont have a ton of cash and the sub would have to be 4 ohms one way or the other. If I got the hx2 i would almost have to build a ported box for it, I have never heard an hx2 that sounded good in a sealed enclosure. but wouldn't that totally kill the response of a 15? Do you have 15" subs preludeshfan? If so what is the price of a sub and box? What else would you reccomend that you can get a good price on? Thanks,Ben
