I started an alternative fuel tuner group @ Carster

I tried to find some kind of personal page software to set something like this up. CarDomain doesn't offer friend groups so Carster got the deal instead. Join up :).
I've also got my motor pulled for a few different projects. We'll be setting up the engine dyno with my engine as a mock-up. Then, I'll tear it down for it's n/a buildup. Also, there's a few busy forums that cater to E85:

http://www.e85vehicles.com I'm a mod now on that one :). I'm trying to get new forum sections for tuning shops and other parts going.
Cheers!

We've been doing some E85 tuning on alot of the cars we have rollin in and out of the shop. One all-motor car, we had fun with that and recently a turboed build we did with E85 as well. we've been using it for a few months now. We started with a shop car and put E85 in it, tuned it and ran it everyday. We just wanted to do an alternative fuel setup to see how it worked. Worked great..... We are sold for sure!!!!!!!

The E85 tuner section is open! Servion, PFI, + anybody else can come on over. There's no pundits and doubters to fight. I even get to zap trolls .

maybe i should start my own thread for this, but i thought i'd ask here since the some of the people with E-85 experience might know...
how do the flex fuel GM vehicles work, specifically the silverado's/tahoes/etc with the gen 3 LS1 based motors.
i assume that it has a wideband and automatically adjusts the fuel ratio to achieve the correct lambda readings (1.0 right?) but can someone tell me for sure? i have always wanted to do an LS1 based turbo build-up (on E85 of course), and im wondering if i took everything from a flex fuel tahoe or something if it would be easy to adapt the flex fuel stuff into another vehicle so i could run different mixtures of E85 and gasoline without major tuning issues.

If you just richen the mixture accordingly in that chassis, you should be fine. If Mustangs can do it on factory parts, a Camaro should, too. So far, we haven't had a single late model EFI car that CAN'T use ethanol blends with just a few tweaks. You wouldn't need a FFV ECU or anything. Most current systems do fine with just bigger injectors or increased fuel pressure.

They have a fuel mixture sensor in the fuel system that reads the fuel you are using and varies the mixture accordingly. because those vehicles can run a half tank of gas and half tank of e-85 the wideband is only used as a secondary "fine tuning" function of the primary mixture calculations.

Thanks for the link GT. Cool board.

The car is still being worked on. We are having trouble finding some of the old parts we want for that thing. Its awesome though, we had alotta fun building the chassis and are in the process of buidling another one.

thanks, thats what i was wondering. im just curious cause im wondering if i got a swap from one of those if i could easily adapt that whole system into the new chassis... i want to do this so that i can run any combination of gas/E85 whether its 0/100 70/30 50/50 30/70 100/0 mixture without having to grab the ol' laptop and load a tune for that mixture... which still wouldnt be perfect as i would be guessing on the mixture of gas/E85.

Its possible I guess. Probably not worth the time or effort though.
