2007 Civic hatchback.
Hmm.. if that's anything close to what it'll look like, it'd almost be worth looking into one (minus the gay lambo doors).

It's probably going to cost around the same as the Si when loaded up. When the hell is Honda going to build another CHEAP car that gets good gas mileage. Is a $10-13k car that gets 50mpg really that much to ask for?
STIBungy

Good luck getting Honda to build a car for that cheap. If you want $10-13k, buy a shitbox Chevy Aveo.

its crazy how much more expensive honda's are becoming... Its not bad because they hold their value. Shit i got more for my SI then i bought it new and then got my jeep. One of my friends got a 04 nissan titan 4x4 crewcab fully loaded for the same price as my jeep :(

Maybe it's just me, but it's ridiculous. The MSRP on my 91 CRX HF was $7,995. Cheap car, gets 50 mpg, and extremely reliable. You can't tell me that what a dollar was worth back then isn't damn close to a dollar now, that wasn't that long ago.
They could make an absolute killing on such a vehicle.

That's not good business sense though. You don't need to blow other people out of the water when people will buy your stuff no matter what already. Plus, it could be considered dumping and is illegal and against our trade rules with other companies.

I guess i'll just keep hoping ;)
Dumping?
When you release a product at prices that no one can touch so you can flood the market and litterally steal all the consumers from your competitors. You usually have to take a big hit and lose a lot of money in the beginning. This is what Japan did in the late 80's early 90's with TV's. They sold them DIRT CHEAP here, while they were very expensive on their own shores. They lost money on every TV they ever sold here until they dominated the market, while they gouged their consumers at home. It worked too, when was the last time you saw an American made TV? Now they can sell their TVs at profitable levels on both shores, especially since there isn't much choice. It worked so well, that it's now illegal. :)

I don't see how it would be considered dumping though. Take a small car, give it a small reliable engine that doesn't use much gas, take away luxury creature comforts, and you have what I want. It would be a cheap car to build, so they wouldn't be losing money on it. It wouldn't dominate the market either. Americans want their huge cars with TV's, leather seats, GPS, and large engines. *shrugs*

well the japanese tried to do it with autos too... thats why all japanese cars have a couple of thousand dollar tarriff on them. The big 3 bitched in the 70s that they couldnt compete so we started taxing japanese cars.

Have you checked out the chevy aveo lately, or you can get just about any dodge with no accessories.

actually a dollar in '91 is about a 1.50 now. Might not sound like a lot, but it definitely adds up. Inflation is key.
You mean something that would have costed $1.00 in 1991 would cost $1.50 today right?

Civics cost about the same back then. A CRX would be about 15 grand these days.

It would be higher than just inflation though. Modern safety requirements add cost and weight. It also wouldn't be able to compete with the nice interiors that you find in new cars. So, by the time you make it to market, you're looking at $20k and less fuel mileage than the old ones.

i wish they made one but i did love having a back seat..
The concept errrr photocept was really cool i really wanted one. Honda has promised one more car come back by mid 07 and i am hoping for a new crx or a new nsx.

Buy an Echo, diesel Jetta/Golf, Insight or Swift/Metro. And the Japs could bring plenty of small cheap fuel efficient cars over, but there is no market here for them.

Hmmm... I tried more than one inflation calculator online (google it) and the most $7,995 came out to as a price for 2006 was a little over $11k
Weston raises a very valid point though. I suppose after all the testing they have to do as far as saftey regulations, extra emissions standards, airbags, etc. would raise the cost quite a bit. Maybe not though... every car company has to do all that so you would think since it's all being bought in vast quantities it would be relatively cheap.
Who the fuck knows.... :D
I <3 88-91 Honda's

think of the honda fit as the new 88-91 civic. Not to mention there about 15 years of technologicial advancement, that too can also drive up cost.

Scions aren't bad for the dough even tho' a TC can top $20k fully loaded. The Fit is getting positive initial reaction and reviews but I'd rather take the Yaris liftback for a daily driver and they start at a little over $11k.
I like teh new Civics and they are a very different looking car which is nice cause i'm starting to tire of this retro nostalgia craze of designs. How many years are we going to mine the past instead of designing new cars?

Ok, so you talk ALL this shit about how much you hate Honda's and blah blah blah, then you totally take a 180 and contradict what you've been saying this whole time and say you love one of the most popular years of Civics?
Tool.
