View Full Version : blown motor..?
so, today sucked. i was driving down bellview around 10am this morning, driving through the snow/slush - and my car started acting up REAL quick. first.. i notice i cant go into 4th gear. so im stuck in 3rd, and i start to hit deep slush/snow and nobodys letting me move over... (dicks!) car boggs down and dies. throw it back in netural and start it for a little bit, revv up the engine to get it running and let it idle for a second. then it sounded like a subaru boxter engine.. like 2 pistons were firing at once. i killed the engine, and popped the hood. all my plugs were popped off the head (they dont fit right) and i tried putting them back on. smoke/steam was comming out of the holes, and i noticed coolant from my radiator over the top. i also noticed oil over the front of my engine.. right below the head and behind the headers. towed it to my friends garage for the night hoping some snow will melt off by morning so i can take a look at it. anybody have any ideas? ALSO, when i popped the hood, there was snow EVERywhere in the enginebay. covering the radiator, all up by the battery, coated the headers. i knocked as much as i could out.. but i know i messed something up. blew the radiator for sure probobly. anybody got any ideas?

so the spark plugs blew out of the block? It's hard to say but maybe a blown head gasket? Have you checked the oil? Remember it can be rebuilt better....stronger.....fucking way faster! http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/scifitv/images/SixMillion.jpg

Did the plugs pop off the head, or the plug wires? I'd start with a compression check and go from there.

Exactly, or you can start looking for a hole.
the plug wires popped off the head. also, when checked the oil, it wasnt even touching the dip stick. its probobly a warped head.

haha it's not my sig its an attached image. Have you done a compression check yet? There is no oil in the engine? Motor could have seized if there is no oil? Or do you mean the dip stick was sticking out? When my turbo blew it shot the dipstick out of the engine! Good luck. I would start with a compression check.
When I put a hole in one of my pistons on my stock B16, it sounded just like that. Oil everywhere, too because it popped the dipstick out. Smoked like a chimney (0 compression in that cyl). Good luck.
lol. thanks for your help guys. turns out i blew a hole through the block.. great. i might be able to get away with a new block, and jus throw my shit ontop, unless i warped the head. so what happend was the snow was blocking off all the airflow into the radiator ect, engine probobly over heated ect ect.

Everytime I look down at my speedo I also look at the temp gauge. Good habit.
i havent looked at my speedo in a grip. all my gauges stopped working, including the odometer.. so i kinda left it like that so i can keep "low" miles on the car ;) but yeah.. otherwise its always been a habit to keep a close eye on the temp. any of you have a d16z6 block? or maybe a cheap swap?

got away with it for a good 8 months. but yeah, i got owned.. for being to greedy. shit SUCKS.

well it sounds like im gonna end up trading my GSR to a friend for some other parts, one of the things im recieving is a Z6 swap if your interested. or i have a D15b7 motor i could do for $500 installed. its a down grade but it'll get you back on the road....
were you running a cold air intake?
