So what did everyone run today?? I gotta say good job to Tyler in getting his new fastest time, 14.4 with "non-vtec" written on the window, hahaha!!:D Next time, you need to write spoon and Mugen on there. I'll post a couple of picts up. I saw a Skyline, and I feel like my like is complete!! Sorry, that's my dreamcar. Also, the sickest Supra I've ever seen.!!

Peace

Yah, the event was a blast. The Skyline was nice, and there were a number of very fast single-turbo Supras. Too many of the Supras just ran 13's and 12's though.....;)

No personal bests for me, although the car is still running well, and no broken parts (not pushing it hard enough I guess).

Congratulations to Ryan McBride (yellow VW bug), who won the Super Comp bracket with some amazing races - he was cutting excellent lights and running within .1 seconds of his dial, never breaking out.'burnout:

Well I tried but was unsucessfull at running 13's. It will happen soon. I was running 14's all day long. I made it to the 4th round of eliminations. My girlfriend is now running consistent 15s. It sure was hot. My best for the day was a 14.3 @ 89 on the brakes.

My car was really dialed in and running 13.6s but I got a little jumpy at the light against Matt (4 door turbo Integra) and red lit and ran a 13.65,my first time trial run was a 13.66@99.5mph.

I did a personal best again of 15.519. She keeps getting faster at each event. All motor VTEC :D

I lost in the 4th round since my car had water down where the spark plug and wire touch :( My fault since I water her down....

No more 16.0's for me!! I ran 15.8 all day even with the god awful heat! My best friend also ran her best time ever, 18.1 in a stock 2000 Civic ex!

I got knocked out in the 5th round of eliminations, so I was doing pretty good. Then I got a little jump and red lighted that round, OOPS. If I only could have controlled my anxiety for another .100 of a second, I could have gotten a .530 light and smoked that mofo down the track :) My car was running awesome yesterday!!

It's too bad that John Shepherd and his AWD Talon didn't make it to this event,he's the thorn in Ari Yallon's (stars and stripes RX7) side. Shepherd ran a 10.2 here last year and won all the street 8 events he competed in and took the championship.

BTW guys, Lance came around to a couple of the HAI people and asked if they wanted to sit up in the tower, as he had some extra tickets (about 12). He was letting them go for $20.00 each, which included beer, water, fajita making food, sandwiches, and some sobe juices, and of course AIR CONDITIONING and a great view of the track.

I'm sure you all won't be so lucky come Sept. 22nd, but I've already got my seat reserved :p

A pretty embarassing day for me... I was car 40 and I ran 4 times and couldn't get a decent launch for any of them. At first, my wheels spun too much, then I shifted into 2nd and the wheels spun again and I hit my rev-limiter. After rotating my tires (fronts were worn, so I moved them to the back) and dropping the pressure in the front, I got it down to a 17.170 on my 3rd run. Instead of spinning my tires, they gripped too much and the engine bogged. That was against a blue Civic with a HAI sticker on the window, he ran like a 17.173, but his dial-in was 17.2 and mine was 17.0, so I went on to the 2nd round. For that run, I tried to launch it higher so my tires would hopefully spin a little and then grip, but they just gripped and hopped all kinds and I red-lighted too.

So, an embarassing 17.17 was my best. I was expecting to run around 16.5, since I have beaten another Teg that ran a 16.6 there and a Z24 that ran 15.6 @ 700ft. I know the heat was causing big problems for my engine though. :( Oh well, the guys I was there with were running horrible times too. I'll have my venting/cooling setup built before next time...

We met at Lollapalooza in 1997, remember? :) We swapped seating locations and you stopped by my seats between bands.

Yeah, I didn't know you were going to be there either or I would of checked out your car and said hello.

I'm not sure if I'll be running or not-- I'd like to, but things always take longer than they should. I went to install my 20G, noticed that I had a blown head gasket, and long story short, I ended-up deciding to just do an engine rebuild if I'm already going to have to pull the head.

I'm also doing a few other things while its down.. upgrading to a massive race core for the FMIC, getting a extrude honed intake manifold, head port matching on intake & exhaust, and also thinking about maybe doing a transmission rebuild while everything is torn apart depending on how much freshing up the engine costs me.

The AEM ECU might also come out by the time my car is back together, and if so, I'll sell my VPC and SAFC to get it... I will probably also need bigger injectors again too.

Ugh, too much money flowing out..

nah, The only thing I remember about lollapalooza 97 was how awesome TOOL was, and what a headache Prodigy was giving both my friend and I, heh. Seriously, I don't remember ever meeting you, sorry :o

Cool deal about your car getting all redone. I hope it's running good for you before winter. There's not much too my civic, just the usual, in a bit of sleeper mode :) I should be getting my high flow cat in in a day or two, then I should be in the high 15 second club. About the only other thing I can do is nitrous at this point, but otherwise my car is pretty much done.

Junkyard Wars machine ...

Made it to 4th round, then managed to break out by a tenth. Ran a couple 14.9 and several 15.0/1... Did pull a 2.18 60' on one run, but mostly 2.2x times. The day's R/T were in the .6xx range. Best to date is 14.776 at 94.68 on the street tires, and best R/T to date at a .524.

Not too bad, for less than $2500 complete expenditure (including the car, motor swap, wheels, and turbo setup).

Now, if I had only installed a good clutch when it was all out on the ground, maybe I could get even quicker!

See everyone this Friday.

Not sure wtf I was doing that round..I was on the brakes really hard and still broke out pretty bad. Put new suspension on my car the day before the race..so it was a lot different to launch. Never thought suspension would help make my car that much faster..or at least easier to launch.

Were you braking at the end so you wouldn't break out?

I was so hot and tired that I wasn't planning on staying for eliminations; I was just running to see how fast I could go. I set my dial-in at 17.0, expecting to break out all bad, but I ended up getting yet another crappy launch and going on to the next round. I redlighted on that one though (still didn't help my ET).

Is there some trick to launching at Bandimere? I know heat was a problem for my car, but I'm sure the fact that I couldn't get a decent launch was also a big factor.

you can run better than 16s on a turbo sohc. The guy I raced against was dialed in at 15.7, but he red lighted in the 4th elimination round so I won. Regardless, SOHCs are good for 14s up here.

I think a SOHC can run way into the 15's on 5 psi..........I have run a fastest of 16.050 @ 84 in my SOHC VTEC intake/header/S-AFC hatchback.........its on the verge of breaking into the 15's all motor for less than $1000..............On 14 psi a SOHC had better be into the 14's.......13's if it has the right internals.

Yeah, I think I might have raced him and knocked him out like in the 3rd or 4th round of eliminations. He seemed pretty kewl.

Well the way I see it I am glad I didn't go to this race. All I would have come away with is seeing the same old cars running the same old times, along with some lame excuse as to why they didn't go as fast as they should have. Too bad that more people can't just accept the fact that a car will only go as fast as it can with what you have no matter how well you drive it. I am glad everyone did well and there were no shootings or stabbings this year.
