What was up with Dave's Talon last night? I heard he ran a high 13 and a low 14.

Dave blew a coupling in half and lost all of his boost. Also he said he was not launching hard, just trying out the bottle.

Yeah, I had a shitty night there. I was using it as a Test/Tune for tomorrow, but it turns out it was a waste of money anyway-- here's the skinny---
On my first run, I felt extremely slow, so I decided to turn the boost up a tad after running a poor-show 14.3. Waaay too slow.
2nd run, I turned the boost up and the motor would bog and hesitate when the boost moved past 10psi.
3rd run the VTEC didn't cross over, rev limit at 6500rpm. More on this later. Both 2nd and 3rd runs were at around 20 seconds.
I went home knowing the car was running shitty for some reason or another. An EG coupe on C-470 w/ a B16A in it would barely start falling back on me when he would downshift into 4th and me stay in 5th, which means problems.
I got home and got out of the car to hear a bubbling sound. Pop the hood and there's coolant bubbling from the intake manifold gasket on the passenger side. Need a new gasket.
So I got up this morning, went to Honda and got one. Hey. Dumbass. You got a B16 gasket for an Si w/o even thinking. I pulled the (new JG Edelbrock Victor X) manifold off anyway, to find no imperfections in the gasket. Well, sweet, dry the gasket out a tad and throw it back together, this time following the torque patern. After getting everything back together, I was going to run up to a friend's body shop to pick up my fiberglass hatch so I could get the lexan window in it and ready for tomorrow. To test the re-plugged in sensor which I missed the first time (putting the motor back together) and the second time (putting the JG Intake manifold on) on the vacuum box (which made it run better) I bone out WOW that felt fast... really impressive. Then all of a sudden the engine boggs and will barely run. Hmm, ok, cool. Got it into a near by parking lot and had Mike from Importsports come pick me up- That's where I put the intake manifold back together. So we tow it back over there and after a long diagnosis, Mike checks under the distributor cap and finds some red dust, which apparantly, according to Kevin, it means it's fried. My friend Aaron just had an OBD-II LS distributor sent to my house for eventual installation on his LS motor in his '97 hatch. Anyway, I take the internals of the distributor out of his, put it in my GS-R housing, and bam, it starts right up. Time to try to get the fiberglass hatch again. Get out to the main road, and naa naa naa naa, Rev limit at 3500rpm. WTF???? After getting up to the paint shop to pick up the hatch, it's 11:30, mind you... I try Tun's OBD-II ECU and it still did the same shit. So after going back down to importsports, I look at the splice in the ECU harness for the VTEC signal, and there's 3-4 copper wire strands keeping that bad-boy connected. Alright, cool. That V-AFC is probably my problem, so I get to start taking it out, and HMMM, since I've put it in and taken it out twice, the wire that's held on by 3-4 copper strands is about .5cm long, then SNNAP, the wire breaks and I have about 4-3cm to work with to splice another one in. That means I have to take the pin for the wire out of the harness. By that time, everyone was leaving importsports, which means I had to leave too. So much for running tomorrow. Sorry to squelch anyone's expectations.

So I guess I'm supposed to be at the race right now, but I'm too fucking stuborn to go. I found out that my crank speed sensor is bad, according to the ECU. This is the 2nd time in 6 mos or so that it's gone bad, which is really odd to me, and it kinda pisses me off. Grrr. Everything else is normal I suppose, except it still won't rev past 3500rpm, because aparently, in theory, it doesn't know where it's reving to. ::sigh:: So anyway, looks like September is my race, not July.
Sometimes I feel like my car just farted an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse)-- pretty much a magnetic field which destroys all semi-conductive devices like ECU's, Sensors (CKS), DISTRIBUTORS, etc, etc, etc.
This is when I feel the muscle car boys have it easy.

hmmm we accidently cut the crank speed sensor wires on steve's car completely. We didn't fix it and the car still drove fine (normal redline). It did throw a code though.

Hmmm, I dunno what to tell me. To add to the list of problems, the fuel line off my FMU burst on the highway. I could smell gas for a couple of miles, then it sprayed on my windsheild. I cut the bad section out, then got back in and comtinued to work when Smoke went everywhere. I got out again and flames are shooting out of my CF hood in the front. The bitch caught on fire. I smothered it with my Red Robin shirt, but then was nearly out of gas, so I made it to work, and had my sister bring 5 galons too me. What a night.

I still don't know what to do. I ordered the crank speed sensor today, it will be in tomorrow at 10:00am. I picked up a distributor cap and rotor while I was there, put it on, but no such luck, it still rev-limits at 3500rpm, and hesitates, like 3 second hesitations where it doesn't matter how much I step on the gas, the car won't fire, then it will pop some then get going again. I don't know what else it could be goddamnit.
