It can be done, but it's not just as simple as a different tranny. You'll need:
manual tranny, shift linkage, shifter, clutch, flywheel, axles, ecu, miscellaneous wiring, clutch pedal, brake pedal, clutch master cylinder (I think it's hydralic), clutch slave cylinder, clutch line, and probably some other crap.
Most people just say sell your car and buy a manual, but if you like doing this kind of thing, everything could probably found at a junkyard for pretty cheap.

Im not sure about the ek civics, but on da integras, the side tranny mount on an auto is higher up than the manual one, and so you have to do some mods to the mount on the chasis to get the motor to sit right. I helped a kid convert his da from auto to maunal and it took new wiring harnesses both interior and engine and all the things listed above. can be done, but its a pain in the ass.

I've seen a thread on HT, this guy ended up paying around $2000 to change over to 5spd and doing it himself.

he must of bought a lot of parts at the stealerships.
junkyard project forsure especially if $$$ is a concern.

i can do this for you if interested, for a hell of a lot less than $2k
i have all lines, clutch pedal assemblies, etc etc etc to do this swap, i know all the pieces i have work in a DC teg and EG civic, but im not sure if they will work in an ek. even if they dont though i can easily get the parts to get the job done.
i also have a good 5 spd tranny.
even if you decide the 5 spd swap is too expensive or something i could put in another auto tranny for you aswell.
just PM me if interested.
If you mean the bracket on the frame rail, that doesnt need to be replaced. He just needs a 5spd transmission mount.

oh ok, is that just because its an EK? cause you have to change it on EG's, DC's, EF's, and DA's.
I've done a few, they're no fun. I would just fix it, sell it then get something else to be honest with you.
