Sweet Truck! I have always loved those things. I used to want to do that, shifting through the gears would be heaven. How many gears til you hit 70, I have always been wondering this.

Yeah, I know :) I drive beside them and it takes 5 or 6 gears to clear a intersection sometimes, would be a dream cause I love shifting.

Toyz51

It's no 379 ext. hood, but still a decent looking truck. It looks like you do a good job keeping it clean and keeping the Alcoas polished. What engine/tranny does it have?

10-03-2006, 11:54 PM
Nice! I used to like to go riding w/ my uncle growing up when he was trucking. Crazy how many gears those trucks have, and I also never noticed the rpm before 2500 holy cow! That unload looks like it definately woulda sucked to back into. Clean rig you got there

They don't allow stoners, sorry. You'll have to go to rehab first.

David
10-04-2006, 12:22 AM
If I'm going to a rehab, it's not going to be for some pussy drug like pot. Datura addiction FTW! That stuff will put hair on your chest

Weston

Real men don't need this "datura" to get chest hair.

J/K that is an awsome truck. Are those V10? How many gears? Turbo?

B20civic

is that really your truck?

company owns it, i drive it.

we are governed at 65mph :o

truck has a 12.7l detroit diesel series 60, 370hp around 1250tq. its a rather huge inline 6. 10speed eaton fuller. at 63 or so mph, i'm cruising at 1500 rpms. motor rarely sees over 1700rpm.

if i'm empty, it accelerates ok. but when the gross weight is around 80k, hills are a bitch, and so is stop and go :D

i'm making good money at it so far. bad weeks can be real bad, and good weeks can be over a grand a week, and the pay rate will always rise for me with the needs of drivers and such everywhere.

i've been in 46/48 continental states, and will go into ontario, canada ina few hours here. i was assigned this 2004 freightliner century class with 193,000 miles on it on 10/11/2005, and here it is, 10/04/2006 and its almost at 350,000 miles :D

if anybody wants pictures of anything on it let me know. i'll upload engine pics, and a big turbo pic tonight ;)

I've known a fair amount of truckers that were private party, that seems to be a decent way to go if you can find a few drivers you trust and keep your truck on the road 24/7 you can make a decent living. Its certainly not the most glamorous job in the world, but you get to see lots of stuff, and the pay can be decent. Most of those places pay per mile you drive..so if you are doing the over the road stuff or long haul jobs (all the time) it can be good money.

Never met any RICH truckers however, but I've hardly ever met any that dislike their job either. :)

Chances are he's getting paid by the mile.
I don't like those detroits, they fall on their face pretty hard. We just got 16 brand new Columbias in here at my job. They are real nice but I'm not a fan of the close journal trannys.

Detroits are torqueless. Cats are definitly my fav for motors, Cummins being second. Is the the truck a standard 10 speed or a "super 10"?

mileage pay. i started after training at 25 cents per mile, and up to 32now after 1 year. got offered a job with another company making 38 cents a mile, but i'm not gonna do it.

there are also companies that pay on the percentage of a load. the trucking industry is an industry that has tons of potential to make a ton of money, or lose a ton of money.

i dont pay for anything on this truck. thats why i am paid what i am paid. if i owned this truck, i would probably average about a $1 a mile, but have to pay my oiwn fuel, insurance, and truck payments. wich arent even that cheap for cars;) in the lkong run, i talked to owner operators (those who own their own) and one told me he brought home $25k last year. and thats fucking weak. lol

actually, the detroit is a good motor, just schneider cuts these engines back. Detroit is probably my engine preference. smoothest idle, and awesome mpg
