Hi all I'm Michael and I drive a highly modified 93 toyota celica. I'm from Texas and am moving to Denver Colorado in 1 week to attend college. I'm looking for a race team/car club to get involved in when I get to the area. I've been looking around to see what the import scene is like around there and it seems to be quite popular. I'd post a timeslip and dyno sheet for my car except its still in the process of putting the finishing touches on the motor swap, but I'm sure I'll see quite a few of you at Bandimere (I hope I spelled that right). What nights do they have open race nights on? Also I heard there is emmissions testing in Colorado, and I'm currious as to how strict it is and if there are any places to go where they arent as strict on it. If you happen to see me around up there I'd be happy to meet some new people and I'm always up for a race. Some distinct features of my car so that you will know who I am if you see it. Metallic blue paint, 18inch white ADR GT sport rims, apexi N1 Muffler, loud whooshing sounds comming out of the engine bay periodically (heheh) and I may or may not have white tribal flame graphics on before then I dont know when I'll have them put on yet. And finally I've got a vielside style bodykit with a shogun spoiler.

Welcome to the state.

We race as a club in the club series at Bandi but our next one isn't till later in July so hopefully you can make that one.

So give us some info (engine that is) on your car,you don't hear about too many modded 93-98 Celicas.

About the emissions test, they are relatively easy as long as you have a cat on the car and if you're turboed (not stock) you turn the boost down and if applicable turn down your fuel settings on your AFC.
I failed my test just a couple of days ago as I tried to pass w/o a cat. I almost made it but the hydrocarbon levels were a bit high which might have been cured with even lower fuel settings but I'm just gonna throw a stock cat back on and pass.
I took a chance that they wouldn't look under the car which they didn't and was hoping to pass with no cat but some tech that work at these places can be anal and will really look your car over,I got lucky as this place just likes to get cars finished and out of there.

Well heres everything I can think of off the top of my head performance wise

JDM 2nd generation 3sgte Motor (came in the celica all tracs)
Nology plug wires
MSD 6BTM ignition with Blaster2 coil
Iridium plugs
Supra TT fuel pump
Supra TT injectors
Upgraded turbo to T04E
Turbo XS type H BOV
Aussie 3" downpipe (fresh out of the outback =) )
3" high flow cat
3" APexi N1 Muffler
3" piping custom mandrel bent at exhaust shop from the downpipe all the way back
HKS Mushroom looking turbo intake ( I forgot the actual name for it)
Stage 3 Clutchmasters clutch with Pressure plate
Apexi AVC-R for turbo control
60% shorter short shifter
50 shot of juice (havent decided if I'm going to put it on yet or not but I have a wet kit)
I know I'm missing a few things If I can remember I'll post them later but this should give you a good idea of what my car is capable of.

1 quick question I have since the air is the problem with power loss up there. Lets say for instance my car could handle 17PSI of boost at normal sea level shouldnt my car with the thinner air be able to push like 20PSI or so and it be about the same stress on the engine and such up there and also compensate for the loss?

17 psi is the same here as it is there. Your car wont experience as much power loss as a normally aspirated car will. Welcome to the state and I hope to see you at the track.

I'll be on the south side of denver going to devry. I'm comming do denver because the only devry campuses that offer Network systems administraiton degrees are in colorado, and I'd also like a change from Texas. I could have gone to the Colorado springs campus, but I chose Denver because of its size. I'm not too impressed with the new celicas either, but I do like toyotas design on them and I think them comming out with the more radically designed factory body kits is nice, but as far as motor goes stock vs stock they couldnt even begin to hang with my motor. 225horse/ 225 torque stock, but of coarse my motor isnt stock. Are there many vipers that go to bandimere? I'm just itching to smoke one.
And wednesday nights are the open nights? What an odd day to have them...

Ttru. BUT you still can/have to compensate for atmospheric/pre-boost conditions. Which would accout for about 2-3psi depending on the day. I would say you can easily do this if you have a FULL stand alone ECU. But in my case I have a piggy back on the stock ECU and I got it tuned to 17.5psi at sea level. So the ECU compensates for the less air overall in it's fueling and so I still only run 17.5psi up here as well. You will notice the difference much more when you are off boost but once the boost comes on it's pretty hard to distinguish the difference with my butt dyno anyway [heh] :).

how do oldschools do up there at bandimere? I'd assume their performance is hindered greatly as well unless they have a blower on them, but I'm thinking about buying a 2nd car for daily driving, the one I'm looking at right now is pretty sweet its a 1980 black chevy malibu with a nice 350 in it heads high rise cam holly carb its jacked up a bit in the back with some big fat tires on it I believe they are 285s or so maybe bigger than that the car looks good and runs better heh

Most NA cars lose about 1.1-1.2 secs off the sea level times.
