so I've been looking around, and I saw someone mention somehting about cam gears "moving the powerband" if you have aftermarket cams. Well I have the J30A1 motor with CL type S cams (J32A2) in it. Since the CLS has a redline of like 7200, and the J30A1 has a redline of like 6000 I figure the powerband of the cams is going past redline, adn if I understand correctly with adjustable cam gears I woudl be able to shift the powerband to the left on a dyno sheet. If that's the case then that sounds like a good deal.
only problem is hte only adjustable cam gears I can find for this engine are from OBX. Any good/bad things about OBX cam gears? Would you be able to adjust the cam gears on the J30 Tobi. Only reason I ask is becuase I haven't seeen a single person with adjustable cam gears on this engine.
How exactly does adjusting the cam timing affect the powerband? I realise that all this does is effect at what point during the intake/exhaust stroke that the valves open and close, but how does that affect the power? I mean, it's getting the same amount of air/gas in/out as before, it's just doing it at a different time. I tried looking online for an explatation but couldnt' find one.
