Guess what I bought today......I picked up an 02 Jetta 1.8t. Didnt really plan on it, but we took one for atest drive adn the payment was right so I brought it home....I like it a lot so far. Only have 50 miles on it so far so no speedy runs for me yet. now I have to put my Si back to stock and take it back to the dealer monday.........

Oh my god...everyone is getting the bad ass 1.8turbo...congrats on the new perchase. What is going to be the first mod? I will be pissed if you have the fastest jetta:)

Get 1000 miles on it so you can race in the club clash on friday.

damn, everyone's getting VW'S. i guess i'll go down to the dealership tomorrow and get me one, maybe that 337..........actually, probably not. i'm keeping the si, i'll be the only f*cker with the supercharged SI. hehe..........congrats on the new car..........:Beer:

I think ill wait till the 03 GTI and WRX comes out to make my desicion. Thay way i can get a 1g awd and do some stuff to it now.

Is this decision based upon what you've seen the other VWs on this board do in the 1/4 and just decided to give up on the Hondas?

Well I havent given up on Hondas, but i decided I wanted a car that was a little nicer had more amenities and such. The Si never let me down at all and it is awesome, but I just decided I wanted something a little different. Plus this car is factory turbo and that is a big plus. I have also seen some good things out of VW's lately....I am not goin got mod it very heavily. Probalby jsut getting a setup similar to what Boraturbo has now and a lowering job. I will be happy with mid 14's. if I want another faster car I will probalby get a civic hatch adn do a turbo setup in it. But for my daily driver and to save some money I will go with this and leave it realatively nice.

Pat and I were talking and we're wondering "why not a Audi Quattro 1.8T?"

AWD and the same horsepower with the same mods as the VW,you'd leave the FWDers in your wake. :D

congrats steve. what happened with the mustang? the 1.8t is taking over the world:king: or umm....just steve and brian. Now at the track we wont be known as "those damn blue si's" well be known as "those damn 1.8t's"

Yeah I never considered an audi because they are so heavy. They seem to be a lot slower mod for mod than these cars. Now I would like one as a daily driver....

Honestly teh only thing that killed the mustang thing was that it is not a good winter car and all the salesmen at the Ford dealership were total assholes.....i am happy with this car though. I like how quiet it is, they seem really refined.

My Jetta is white with 17 inch wheels and the monsoon stereo package. The only thing I opted not to get was leather. I will update my profile later on today.i will get some pics up of the Jetta today also.

Man, I remember when there were like 2 vw's in town, last friday night I saw about 6 total, and all of them had something done to em. I guess the 1.8t has really gotten people interested. Yey.. first post.

Damn Ive been trying for like 8 months to get me into some 1.8t action, Ive loved that motor since the first time Tyler let me drive his car.

No mods yet. We've spent more time and money modding the Supra. Soon as the warranty is up tho. ;)

I also don't think that you can say that a 1.8 VW is faster than a 1.8 Audi, it depends on the mods you have done. It sounds like you've done a lot to your car, so of course you'll walk on 1.8 A4's all day long, but I'm sure that someone around here has a modded A4 that'll run with you.

I don't know about that. If both cars are staying on stock Turbo's I don't think the A4 has a chance. Power to weight is all it comes down to there. All tyler has done is a chip, downpipe, exhaust and springs.

a stock S4 is a good match up for a chipped 1.8t. as far as audi 1.8t vs VW 1.8t, given equal mods and equal driver skill the vw should win, even though the audi has awd its alot heavier and has more luxurious gear ratios. I raced ryan in his A4 a couple times when i was stock and he had a chip, exhaust and from a stop he put 1 1/2 cars on me on the launch but i only lost by about 1/2 up to 90mph. from a roll I pulled on him everytime.

"It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning" heheheh... Thats good for a stock s4 at this altitude. I have never lost to a stock s4 since iv'e been chipped and I usualy take them by a car or two. And from a roll.........byby:)
