I took the family to Golden Corral tonight, being the big spender that I am. The feature item was filets wrapped in applewood bacon. Steak is kind of hit-or-miss at Golden Corral, sometimes it's OK, sometimes not so much, but there's usually a good variety of stuff, the kids like it, and being on Atkins limits my cheap dining-out options. They were GOOD! Medium rare, very tender, thick, very good bacon, it was unbelievable. Not as melt-in-your-mouth as I would expect at a good steak house, but they were all-you-can-eat for the whole family for less than I would pay for just one large filet at a good steakhouse. I had a couple of them with my salad, a couple more with some vegetables, and one more for dessert. My wife had a couple too and we couldn't believe how good they were. I would have eaten more, but everyone else was ready to go. I felt sad as I walked by the big bin of filets on the way out the door, guilty for abandoning them like MacArthur leaving The Phillipines. I shall return.

That last one was a bit rare, but that's how I like my filet. some of the others were closer to medium.

I will never eat at a Golden Corral ever again. Tobi & I were on a road trip and after we were done I went to the rest room and some kid came flying into the bathroom right after me and didn't make it to the toilet. Needless to say, I think of puke whenever the name comes up.

Their steaks arent bad. The tough part is getting the wetter cooking them up to make it to how you like it. By default, he/she makes them well done. Bleh!

Yeah, had steak today at Country Buffet...fricken steak was so rough and well done I stabbed it with the knife and got stuck in the middle...didn't even hit the plate.
