Virus?

My computer has been acting wierd for about the past week, it doesnt turn off by using start:shut-down. A lot of times it will start up and all the programs wont load and it will be useless. A lot of programs are acting wierd, and many are saying that they dont even exist. Help me Please.:smashfrea

Running out of disk space? Maybe give your computer a good ol tune up :) defrag, remove unnessary files, ect.

control panel
power options
APM tab
check enable power management support


did you recently install a service pack?

I'm with Mecham on this one..if it doesnt clear up I'd just reinstall windows..sometimes the registry starts to go to shit and cause issues. Hard to say about that program though..reinstall almost always works.

How would I go about reinstalling, and what all would I loose?

Also I have a some little box, with what I assume are CD's inside that says Compaq Quick Restore on the outside, would that help?
