View Full Version : Gauge Mounting

Has anyone found a good place to mount a couple of gauges in the GTI's? The pillar seems to be good, but I don't want to die if an air bag deploys. I don't really want to remove my dual din stereo, nor do I want to lose the cup holders. Where the heck else is there to mount one?

A sweet place that i have seen is the little circular vent right next to the driver side piller on the dash. A friend of mine at mcdonald has his there. You can only do one gauge though.

Hmmm I wonder what kind of mount that is and where I can find one....Time to hit teh autometer catalog.

There is an A piller mount for eather the 1 or 2 pod in the MK4 GTI. The guage holder is mounted lower than the piller airbag so that if it does deploy it dosn't hit you. Think of it this way only the top portion of the A piller has an airbag so if it's mounted low there is no problems. I have about three friends with this done. Dave

Well there is a pillar mount for mk4's on autometer's website, but they say it shouldn't be used on some 02 models that have a pillar air bag. Maybe i'll give it a shot and see if I can just mount it real low. That would take care of boost and air/fuel at elast.
