this is about the same mx6, and I am truly stumped now, I have replaced the fluids, water pump, radiator, thermostat, and head gasket, still the temperature slowly rises till it gets into the red on the temp guage. Any ideas? or does this not make any sense?

Check your timing? Maybe it's somehow too far advanced, worth checking out at least...who knows.

What about fan relay?
Is the car modded at all? Are your fans running?

Back to my original question on part 1. Is it really getting that hot or is your gauge failing and giving you a faulty reading. Get a thermostat or a raytech temp gun and find out.

We'd probably be able to help you out more if we knew your entire setup.

okay this same thing was happening to my hatch a while back,,, mine was spitting out my coolant and kept overheating and hearing bubbles from my top radiator hose well the answer to my problem was -----------stupid as it sounds it was my RADIATOR CAP ??????? but you did say you changed your radiator? did you put a new cap on or your old one? LOL

Alright, I'll give the run down again real quick, I have replaced the radiator, thermostat, coolant, water pump, fans, and also replaced a head gasket. It will overheat no matter what, at idle, stop and go traffic, or at 75mph down the highway, it just always overheats. When i replaced the head gasket I examined the head for any crack but did not find any at all. I do hope that you are right waldo, and I think that you might be because now that you mention it it is chewed up on one side. I'll replace it and let you all know.

It's highly unlikely that you would actually see the crack with your bare eyes, machine shops have some special dye that they can use to find cracks.

Buying a Honda still won't fix his problem. I've also seen Hondas with cooling issues, they're not bulletproof either.

no it wont but it will certainly be easier to track down the problem! with beatiful little pictures on our heads of what it can be!!!!! D series motors are the easiest to fix, and get around parts, help, new motors run anywhere from $50 to ill say $400! ill bet you he has spent over 5 bills trying to fix this

A motor is a motor is a motor, either way in this same situation it wouldn't matter wtf kind of car he has, he could still have the same problem and still be stumped, little less money out of his pocket if it was a Honda but either way...........

If you check both the coolant hoses, are they both hot?
If its boiling over and the return hose from the radiator is cold then your radiator is blocked, or the thermostat isn't opening like its supposed to.

Pressure test the system. If you overheated the fuck out of it once you probably have done permanent damage. It could have dentonated, ruined rings, warped the head...look at your spark plug condition. You are probably screwed.
