A buddy of mine told me today that he can get really good deals on car electronic stuff, so I thought I'd check out some new head units. I don't plan on changing anything else at this time, so I'll be using the amps and speakers from the Mach 460 stereo that's in the Stang now.
Here are the 3 that I've narrowed it down to:

(That link doesn't appear to be working now, but it should be.)
Kenwood Excelon KDC-X959

Pioneer DEH-P9400MP

Sony MEX-5DI

I don't know crap about the new stuff....so any opinions will be appreciated!!

I would have to choose kenwood. I am a kenwood fan and have had no problems with them at all. But instead of spending the money on that deck try the MP919.

Did you even look at the Alpines?
Don't even think about a Sony, they start skipping after about a year or so and need new rubber mounts internally (read = not a CD or lens problem)

I've asked this question on 3 sites now, and most have said to go with the Pioneer. I've been a Kenwood man before, but I really liked the Sony.
Not ONE person recommended it.
So, it's either the Kenwood or the Pioneer...I'm going to look at them now.

Before I was into racing and such I was really into car audio...
I got really sick of people breaking into my car all the time and stealing my shit. Finally they stole my whole freakin car 5000+ in audio was gone and at that point I decided I wasnt going to pay for other peoples stereos anymore. Before it was stolen it hit 149db:cool: I now have a factory tape deck and a portable plug in cd player!:PIMP:
after going through many head units over time I found that alpine far exceeded all of the others.

I have a kenwood its about a year old and its more sensative then my shock sensor on my car alarm! One small bump and it skips. I'd go with the Pioneer or look into ALpine.

Alpines rarely ever skip, and I've seen quite a few different model numbers of Alpine decks in my time. That and they sound awesome, is cheaper than the Pioneer, and offers more wattage in some models for straight speakers (no amps) than any other head unit out there right now.
That, and they offer a 6 disk CD/MP3 changer.

make sure you look at the RMS instead of Peak power also, make sure your speakers will hit RMS and your system should sound awesome. if not maybe get an amp for your speakers.

I went shopping today and bought a Pioneer DEH-940MP and an Alpine MRVF340. That'll have to hold me over until I can find a way to get some speakers and another V12.
Here's a link to the head unit:

BTW: I had an "in". I paid 10% over cost for the stuff, but my "in" might've been fired, (not because of this). :(

So, what was the price of the head unit then?
