I bought a 02 GTI 1.8t today. I pick it up monday morning. So are there any free mods I can do to this sucker?

Did you trade the SI in or are you just gonna sell it?

post LOTS of pics when you get it, I haven't had a chance to really go check one out, only seen a few pictures online and in magazines.

last weekend I cut off part of my airbox. I dont think i gained any hp but it sounds deeper and louder and bov like when i shift. I was driving normal a couple nights ago and i must have shifted going past this z28 cause a couple lights later he wanted me to roll down my windows and he said "dont even rev on me man, I will lay down titles that i can beat you" I thought it was pretty funny

99, if I had the money, here's what I would do:

APR 91 Octane chip (w/the 93 optional program)
Techtonics, Remus, Greddy G2 exhaust
APR downpipe
H&R Springs
Neuspeed strut and sway bars
If you bought it brand new, then it's exempt, so don't run a cat.
Either a Forge DV or a GFB Hybrid DV/BOV
EVOms Cold air intake
ABD Motor Mounts

If you have any questions, let me know!! I love dubs, and any advice I can give tell me! That's not a complete list, tho...

Haha, I didn't see the free mods part. Um, you can cut out the bottom of the stock airbox and throw in a K&N for a little better sound. Also, take out the lower grill inserts to get better cooling and intercooler effiency. I'll think of more...

Very Cool, thanks. I want to "try" and keep the car strock for a month or two just to make sure nothing goes wrong warranty wise. VW is kind of the warranty voiding nazi's from my last experience.

Are you getting a decent price for the SC stuff on your car? You wouldnt want to pull an all night SC swap to my car before it goes away would you? I was just thinking I could probably get 13's out of my car with your setup.

Damn, the force must be strong with you Brian. Have fun with the new car..shame to see such a badass Si get parted out. I'm sure you'll have the VW running nicely in short order..

If/when I get my GTI I'm going either bright red, white, or blue.

hahahah....omg...didn't think i'd ever see it after all those "there is no way Jeff's GTI kept up with the SC'd SI" threads...

Congrats though. Start saving now...there will only be a couple of turbo upgrades available for that car...and they will all be in the $3k-$4k price range. I'd start a fund now...so i could buy one in a couple years...and have fun with chip/exhuast upgrades in the mean time. What color did you get Brian?
