you dont even need a spirng compressor for coil overs.
BTW i can install everything for you for a hell of a lot cheaper than any shop would charge. PM me if interested.

Unless you do it the ghetto way and risk losing a limb.

I dont kno w who qouted you $400 but yes, that is too much unless it includes alignment. We are still cheaper with a 4-wheel alignment.

maybe wireing the springs? It is often better to take to someone things like if you are going to keep your stock struts (which I do not recomend) they need to cut your bumpstops and such. Plus if the car has never been lowered and you are trying to pull the bolt on the bottom of the rears I have seen many of those break off before.
PM suavecito1177 on here he has a small shop (Baselinemotorsports) and would install all that stuff pretty cheap. Or call him 720.309.0041

Take the nut off with an air gun and run like hell.

I usually step on the spring and put my wheel behind the strut so when it shoots out it just hits the tire and thats it. Its pretty easy to do with out the spring compressor.

Crazy
wear a glove, put a bucket over the nut, and release :)

We commonly refer to that method as the "TRENZ"

 Yea Slava has balls to do that. I personally am more of the conservative "spring compressor type".
