So, this weekend I spent $53 and did this. It's pretty simple, no need to explain, so here's a few before and after pictures:

Before:

The car's paint was in horrible condition. Rust showed through in spots, and the previous owners had tried to mask off some surface rust with silver spray paint.. it doesn't show well in these pictures, but the look was... glorious.

This is my Jetta hood, which was already flat blacked by a local guy with the same car I have.

Obviously removing the headlights, trim, grill, etc.. kept taping to a minimum.

This little can adaptor that makes the can into a "spray gun" is a lifesaver.

And here's the semi-finished product. The larger parts of the car are still splotchy because the wind started acting up, so it needs another coat or two later on.. probably next week sometime.

and: although the silver shows, obviously, the way the car is designed made the edges very clean, and it's not nearly as noticable as it "fading" through the cracks or whatever.

So with $30 or so, I'll be done, with three coats of paint or so.. more updates down the road, but that's it for now

You should give Tonnerre some spraypainting lessons.

I woulda gone with bbq black paint. Alot easier to even out and no lines like I see all over your car.

Dammit, I should've thought of that

Anyway, those spray adaptors are at every Lowe's, Home Depot, and even Checker.
