I've heard Commercity cops busted a group of 50 cars dragracing at 88th and Tower.
Anybody here knows if it's true? Details? :(

Dang thats alot of cars if they did...
I was out there once, after some Aurora guys tried to setup some illegals. It was a HUGE cluster____. A caravan left from point A and drove to point B (tower road), and it HAD to be 100+ cars leaving at the same time. A few of us hung out for about 20 minutes after the cluster left.
We arrived at tower and were there for about 5 minutes before the Commerce City police showed up. No tickets were written, but a stern warning was handed out. Everyone had to "sit around the campfire" and listen to a lecture by the head officer. I even got singled out and asked if I was the "token old guy" - was sorta funny.
They never learn. Ever.
lets get "fast and furious"

I was there on the first bust. There were 68 tickets hand written out for trespassing. Talk about carpal tunnel!

That would not suprise me at all. Seems as if all the local law enforcement agencies have been on top of us (us illegal goers) since about this time last year. There's nowhere you can go that is fool proof.
Any of you "old tokens", can you answer my Q? It seems to me that this rise in racing has occured only in the past 4 years, but my perspective is very skewed, since I started driving in '97.
Of course illegal racing has gone on since the '50s, but in the '80s in Colorado, was it IROC-Z vs. Stareon/Conquest vs. RX-7 vs. 280Z?

well i have been doing this shit for a little over ten years now, and i can tell you it has NOT risen! hell when i was 16 we would get to longmont at about 6pm and race main street till 2-4 AM, 3 tanks of gas later. that was EVERY fri. and sat. night. sunday night was the real shit, sometimes over 200 cars would go out to tower road(the closed frontage road along I-70 not 88th). slicks, nitrous, trailers and big blocks. hell some nights we would stay for 5 hours and not get a race due to the amount of cars running. and if the cops came we had a few others spots we would meet at and race some more. that was the good old days:D
was it IROC-Z vs. Stareon/Conquest vs. RX-7 vs. 280Z?
oh and chris i raced a few IROC's and i was in a 280zx(turbo of course)

Yeah, I heard about that. I remember someone saying something about the cops getting out there before the racers did.
I wont go into details, but let's just say that the other spot in Commerce City is also a really really bad idea now. I happen to know that one for a fact.
I also know a few people that got caught in Watkins a few weeks ago. They say the cops blocked off the road, wrote down all the license plate numbers, and told them to never come back or they'll get tickets. I heard someone mention that there was a big bust out at some Chineese Theater in like Aurora too.
I've yet to see street racing where they were smart about it, and that's why I don't race. It's no wonder that the cops get called pretty much every time. If the caravan of reckless drivers in flashy cars doesn't tip anyone off, the racing on roads with oncoming traffic will.
The first bust? When was that?

A bit OT:
Cruising in Westy is now on official lockdown right? My buddy rolled through Longmont on Saturday night and said it was REALLY busy, tons of imports and American muscle out. I was wondering if people from Westy were migrating this way now?

What the deal with Longmont?
I know back in the day Main Street was popular to roll down but never heard of any type of racing. Where do or did they go to race if they do?

I went through Westminster on a Friday night on my way home a week or two ago and the cops had a roadblock on 92nd, just West of Harlan St. They were stopping every car in both directions, asking if they are cruising, telling them that cruising is now illegal, and handing out little pieces of paper about it. I don't know anyone that's been out there cruising since the law was passed, and see very very few cars out there when I've driven by.
Longmont cruising is lame. I lived in Longmont for many years, and cruising there is definately mostly a high school thing, but it's still dumb, even for high school. When I was in HS, it was alright to do every once in a while, but it still got lame quick. The only fun part was watching the driver try to navigate through traffic and cops to catch up to girls and make a pathetic attempt to talk to them. We only really did it to kill time while we were waiting for a movie, party, etc. to start. I've been back there recently, but it's only gotten dumber.
People used to race down Main while crusing, but that's just an exceptionally dumb idea now. There's a lot of side streets, a lot of traffic, a lot of bad HS drivers, and a lot of cops. The chances of crashing and/or getting caught are pretty high. The cops are always out in force, and they are instructed to just write tickets instead of giving warnings on Fri/Sat nights. They'll write you a ticket for some pretty dumb things. Main street is also a state highway (287), so State Patrol will be out, and they will write you tickets for even pettier things. Of course, I still haven't seen anyone be smart about racing, so I guess all that doesn't really matter to the people that frequently do it.
Westminster was once fun, but it got really lame near the end. Longmont has been lame for quite some time and will likely only get lamer.

I went out the night when they caught everyone on tower.I was just running late from Keeblers stopped off for a drink and a quick fill.By the time I got to Tower & 72nd Alot of cars were coming back the other way so i knew something went down.Guys were passing flashing lights & high beams so me and a few other stragglers just whipped a bitch and fell in behind them.Saturday after the bbq we had a couple good runs down around the proving grounds.Seems like a better spot than keeblers, I can see why the bike guys like the area.:D
