A friend of mine just purchased a 1990 4Runner (dayum good price too) and would like some insight on how to add some balls to his rig! I know nothing of em.

It's the 3.0L V6 coupled with a 5spd manual tranny. Engine was rebuilt and break in procedures were followed to the "T." Doesn't leak a drop and runs solid!

He'd like to have a little bit more get up and go and some extra towing power!

I told him to start with headers (Googl'n em now) along with a larger dual exhaust and an intake package such as FIPK from K&N.

Then I told him if he wanted.... he could have the heads milled (10 thousandths), ported, polished and THEN add JUST a 50 shot a nitrous via an electronically controlled (reads the A/F) unit and have it set for full throttle injection only.

Anybody with experience on theses beasts know how we can squeeze some more ponies out for towing and get up?

Gracias!

I used to work on those pigs. Honestly there is little he can do for a noticeable difference. I have installed headers, cams, chips, exhuasts, yadda yadda and they are still slow.

Not even have head work with some nitrous would help?

Bummer!

So.... are there any swaps out there that you would advise?

I don't think its too hard to drop a small block in those is it? at least I've seen a few of the trucks with them in it

Hmmm..... this may be viable! Not only that... but it'd be FUN!

Time to hit up teh Google to see which particular small blocks would work with what manual transmissions!

Gracias!
