So I went to go see the movie Tokyo Drift today at the new Harkins Theatre, and after the movie some dumbassess in a 95ish Cadillac Eldorado and a 2005ish Stratus tried to "DRIFT" in the parking lot and smash right into each other....me and my friends were laughing our asses off...lol

By the way the movie wasn't bad I liked a lot of the music in it though...

we saw some strange things too...no actual drifting but like suv's trying to burn out and cars racing up and down the parking garage.

We were laughing so hard that couldn't even get out all the sarcastic comments that we wanted to. Horrible acting, horrible plot, completely fake, and full of rice... definately a good addition to the F&F series!

I personally thought that it wasnt a bad movie at all, nice cars (a little flashy, aka ricey) but overall the least mistakes (carwise) out of the series...music was killer and there were alot of hot girls in it...

im literally LOLing.

that guy was ginormous! and vince told him to go sit down......and he did.

details: we (mostly me and vince) were drunk as foook, hooting and hollering before the movie started. then i think the jolly green giant yelled something and we probably yelled back stfu or something. then he came down to us and wanted to throw down. it's all a little fuzzy to me so maybe someone else can give better details.

I heard it was a RB26 motor......It's funny how all the other sites actually said it was a good movie and I knew ahead of time that the movie would get bashed on this site! LOL

I may have to go watch it once the dumbasses are done drifting in the parking lot.

Better motor my ass. I could see putting a v8 in a japanese car, but not a stinking japanese engine in a classic mustang.
The only reason it would make any sense is that it would be easier to get the jap engine over there.

Brian
06-18-2006, 12:40 AM
exactly! It's a good motor, but hardly better than the v8 the car had in it. The car only made 300 and change for hp. The stock motor in that car could pull that off with basic bolt ons (if it couldn't do it stock)

Steve_C
06-18-2006, 01:56 AM
yet another stupid ploy to get domestic owners to bite on to the story. It would have been alot easier and make alot more sense to just fix up the messed up silvia

Tonnerre
06-18-2006, 01:58 AM
I saw the movie and the issue was that then needed an built engine in the car and be able to drift it in 2 days. Not many V8 just sitting in japan. I thought it was funny when the guy try to use his 80k dollar viper to ram the other 5k car off the road.

[QUOTE=Tonnerre]I saw the movie and the issue was that then needed an built engine in the car and be able to drift it in 2 days. Not many V8 just sitting in japan.[QUOTE]and you think doing a rb swap into a mustang is that easy and they could have pulled it off in 2 days? I think it's easier to find a v8 engine to fit in that car then to find a actual windshield that was just "lying around".

Like i said, woulda been alot easier to just fix the busted silvia

Tonnerre
06-18-2006, 02:06 AM
With all the shit he did to it, you would think there would have been some frame damage. But by the same token with another 240sx/silva to put the engine in would have been a lot better.

Ferret

The movie itself was alright, for being just a random bullshit car movie.. the events before and after the movie are things I'll remember for a long, long time

Also like the car itself or not, there was one scene in the movie that I thought was done EXTREMELY well, and that was right in the beginning of building the rb mustang, when they were trying it out in the mountains with no hood and shit, all beat up.. I was like "whoa hold on a realistic scene!"

Then they riced it up. Oh well.

PS: David nice JDM wipers

because we're talking in terms of the movie...the kid had no money at that point yet somehow they managed to fuckin fix that thing up and perform a swap that would take weeks, if not longer...plus a lot of ingenuity. its not a simple bolt in proceedure. its simply unrealistic. the whole movie was unrealistic. obviously it was done but in terms of the movie it was complete bullshit.
I have, and never had, any problems with the fact that it was swapped and the car ran. the bullshitness is that he and his friend twinkie managed to pull the swap off in a matter of days.

But I think it's more interesting that people hate the real car made for the movie.

Brian

I only have one problem with the swap. When you do a motor swap it is usually to put a BETTER motor with MORE potential into the car. THis isn't the case here. They got 3XXhp out of the swap which you could get out of the stock motor with free mods.

If they made a movie that was realistic....they should have just made a movie about Dennys at Santafe and Alemeda! They could have showed all the slow ass cars racing with their giant spoilers on FWD cars!

But then nobody would go watch it!

He is the man. He was fishing off the dock.
There are sooooo many things that are unrealistic. I can sit here and take it apart:
-The EVO is 4WD, so how could he learn on a 4WD and then drift a RWD just as good.
-Why would a mob boss agree to settle a dispute with a race?
-Why would anyone trash a viper for a girl that did not want to be with him?
-Brad from Home Improvement and his gf would have died in that crash in the viper.
-How does everyone speak English so well?
The list goes on and on, but who cares? It was nice to see the cars, the drifting, girls and the chase seen was not too bad.

BTW, there was a picture that I saw about a year ago with a yellowish stang with a RB26DETT in it. And also that engine in the movie probably had well over 500 hp or something.

funny fact: i read in Hot Rod (they did an article on F&F 3) that the mustang had the rb26 worth 300hp and change, pretty much just stock with some bolt ons. BUT, when it came time for them to rely on the car to drift, they used a version with the 351 Winsor V8, not the RB. i havent seen the movie yet but have read about it in multiple magazines, and im already not impressed.
