So I've decided my "fun on the range" is going to be an M4.... but as for hunting..... I'm up in the air.

I'm kinda on the fence as far as round choices. It's either going to be 30-06 or 308 (mainly for brush option). Bolt action all the way! Centerfire for affordability. I know which Nikon scope I'm getting already... so that's in the bag!

Remington's made a solid rifle since the dawn of time, but I'm gonna stay away from the lower spectrum such as the 710.

Then there's Weatherby... which is kinda pricey in some instances, but worth it if you ask me.

Savage Arms has come a long way as well. They have a few choices that are definitely at the top.

I have yet to get to gun shop to look at these... and I'm more than likely going to be looking for a used rifle!

I just wanted to ask the gurus here before heading out on the search!

Feedback & what not please! Gracias!

I have a 30-06 and love it. I got it from a pawn shop and refinished the stock on it and it looks brand new. The 30-06 is good for most types of hunting with nice flat shooting. I vote for the -06, but that is just me.

I have both a Rem Model 700 30-06 with a synthetic stock and blued barrel, and a Rem SPS 7mm mag. with a synthetic stock and stainless barrel and I really like both of them. I have shot a lot of other guns and man the 7mm mag shoots awesome. It has such a nice butt pad that after a day of shooting your shoulder isn't even sore. Probably the only bad thing about it is it has a really heavy trigger. I need to get it lightened.

And that's why I'll never grow another goatee. It's like a furry target.

Hmmm..... looks like I'm gonna be searching for a while!

Tobi: They have a .50 setup at the last place I went... but I didn't feel like filling out the financing paper work! As for that last pic..... DAYUM!

Thanx for the input! I can't wait to get myself a setup. That and an M4!
