View Full Version : Worked on a scion TC yesterday

A pal from work has a TC with 2000 miles on the clock, and we put a turbonetics turbo kit (http://www.turbo-kits.com/tC_turbo_kits.html) on the car (first kit on the page). He did a baseline dyno @ MAC and put down 134. With the turbo he's expecting 260+ @ 8psi. Another local guy has the same kit, added 1.5 psi and an AFC, & put down 309 whp.

Beautiful kit. All the IC plumbing was black chromed aluminum, nice spearco FMIC, unichip, 630 injectors (stock are 310?). We also installed a plx m300 wideband (from Tobi).

The car did get a CE light when we fired it up, and I'm pretty sure it was due to the lack of a front O2 sensor. The downpipe didn't have a bung for the stock front O2. We did put a bung into it for the wideband, and we were thinking that perhaps the unichip would perhaps fake the front O2 signal for the ECU.

Didn't get the code pulled, and I had to leave prior to the maiden voyage, but man - what a productive day. The car is going to be sick. :)

was the other one that white one with the adjustable wing owned by that asian kid? Because Hung and me saw one at bandi and the kid was claiming 310.

Did he run 13.80s? If so, then probably. Not sure what the other car looks like.

134 whp - I believe they are 160+ bhp.

they have a lot of tq though. 2.4L helps that out.

I heard they swap Celica motors in the Scions for a little extra power

Still....
They are something like 170 at the crank, at sea level. Take into account our altitude and that he got that at the wheels and it's about right.

Doesn't a stock '99 Si put 160 to the wheels at our elevation?

Why would they give release 6000ft altitude numbers? B16's are 160 at the crank I thought.

Wow... that almost makes sense :D

If that were the case, don't you think you would have beat my Celica GT-S at least once? ;)

Heh - once I saw the numbers that Turbonetics and Dezod were putting down with that small amount of boost, I almost started to regret that I'm dumping all my cash into the GT-Four. If it weren't for that damn car and the fact that I like my 100,000k bumper-to-bumper warranty on my tC... I'd have boosted her already. :(

matt B16's put down 160 or 170 at the flywheel at sealevel.

a friends GSR motor with slightly higher comrpession (10.8) a full exhaust, skunk2 intake manifold, etc, etc, etc. put down 153 to the wheels.

i bet a stock B16 only puts down around 130 to the wheels if even that.

That's weak for a GSR. My JDM B16A with bolt-ons and a CTR intake cam put down around 150whp on PFI's dyno.

i dont think stock ep3 motors do that.

I drove the Scion yesterday. Burned the tires in 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Pulls like a mofo. At 2900 lbs it's light enough to really make you sit up & take notice. :)

It'll be strapped to a dyno today, and make its maiden voyage down the 1320 @ Bandimere tonight. :)

I'm guessing 250-260 at the wheels.

Nice, definitely let us know what it puts down and how she runs down the 1/4.

like others have said, a stock SI would be likely to put down about 130 at the wheels AT SEA LEVEL. Figure around 110 or so here in colorado, plus no torque.

Doesn't a stock '99 Si put 160 to the wheels at our elevation?

264 whp per the dyno at Mac in Parker.

I heard rumors of a low to mid 14 sec 1/4 lastnight @ bandi.

Has he been having any problems with his car John? I rode in one today (I had to recline the hell out of the seat so my head didn't hit the roof) and she's only had hers since August but it's already had some problems.
1) Soon after she got it, the little air diffuser that pops up when the sun roof is open broke off.
2) Her boyfriend slammed the driver door and all the driver's side, side air bags went off. The one next to the driver, and the curtain in the back seat.

The wind diffuser is a TSB item. Toyota knows about it. Supposedly they fixed the problem with the 06s.

I've NEVER heard of the airbag problems... I'm glad I didn't opt for the side curtain airbags...
