i think its french.... pronounced tonneigh,,,,, or tony for short, speaking of which, no one is ever named tony anymore, for good reason.

It is a french word, I ask the teacher how you say it and she said the is silent. So Ton nair Is correct.

lol the e at the end is silent. Normally the e would sound like and "ay"

I say it's a failed attempt to spell "toner". :D
